An eclectic mix of the many styles of music the band members grew up with. As “Third Culture Kids†the members of Bridgeland venture to bring together cultures and ideas that don’t always seem to fit together. Through their lives and art they hope to bridge cultural and ideological differences and bring people together with the universal language of music.
A live show can best be described as: “Acoustic, Latin Folklore Influenced Rock.†Bridgeland’s lively guitar rhythms are accented by traditional Andean folk instruments and topped off with commanding, soulful vocals.
Brief History:
Siblings, Anita and Raf are Chileans who were born and raised in Canada, surrounded by friends from a wealth of nations and cultures. They have traveled quite a bit and learned at an early age the beauty of diversity and the power of unity. David was born and raised in Puerto Rico but also lived in NYC as a child. Growing up biracial on a culturally varied and musically rich island, David brings a distinctive depth to all he does.
David, Raf and Anita have been playing music together in one form or another since the late 1990s, in Indiana, where they met. Some have known them as members of Inti, Raices or Radiant - bands that mainly focused on Latin folklore fusion. Yet as the band members have changed and grown over the years, so has their desire to make fresh music. - Following an extended refocusing break after touring Canada and the US for a year, David Anita and Raf renamed themselves Bridgeland - The name signifies the desire to connect things that seem incongruent. In September of 2005 Bridgeland relocated to Charlottesville VA, where the start in music has been slow, but rising.
