About Me

INTRODUCTION Tenuous hopes of fame veiled in the gritty backdrop of the limelight, "song-poem" muse Alexis Pena Goco allocated his creative writings which for some time has expired and kept out of sight in old composition notebooks. He recovered this unconventional collection of treasures, eclipsed in the past and revered them into song. Setting his creative writing to music - he became contemplative and conceived this ambiguous, and aspired to name it a form of art, classified as "electronic poetry." The resulting product developed as something more musical than he expected. The visuals that the poems and music manifested indicated a "punk rock" umbrage - self-evident, and found these attributes to be key elements in staging a musical band. In the light of day, such crude creativity may be distinguished as "outsider art" or among the abyss of "song-poem" artists and "outsider" musicians spellbound in oddity and obscurity.

THE BEGINNING Emerging from the RP (Role Play) dominion Alexis Pena Goco adopted the name "Catanic" as a reference to an insatiable desire to emulate cats which was bred from his fixations earlier in life to wear dark clothing and ravenous locked hairstyles while bewildered by the after shock of the 1960's/70's during the 1980's when his formative times were spent reclusive and absorbed into the alternative styles of art, music and clothing. By the early new millennium, he noticed that these behaviors persisted in his life in many ways and accommodated this by pursuing an avid collection of dark wardrobe and costume accessories - although at this point in his life he has learned and adjusted a presenting self that was moderate and conformed - so this avid collection was something he attuned "behind closed doors." One day, his former, aged self-image came looming about through his mind when he conceptualized himself playing a dual role in a band as himself and with "Catanic". They were later to be called Catanic Panic. Catanic Panic formed in 2006 and setting a stage with delineative illustrations that introduced the Catanic persona in gothic, cat-like embodiments and celebrated androgyny. The artwork fields an incarnation of a dark, villanious type, cat woman exuding from a comic book mindset and an absence of illumination. Today they represent themselves as an Experimental/Visual musical band with an array of unreleased songs and a CD single since 2008 called "Never Look Up" that continues to demand its poise in popular culture.
Lyric poetry refers to a usually short poem that expresses personal feelings, which may or may not be set to music. Aristotle, in Poetics, contrasted lyric poetry with drama and epic poetry. An example would be a poem that expresses feelings and may be a song that could be performed to an audience.

a type of emotional songlike poetry, distinguished from dramatic and narrative poetry. Greek lurikos 'for the lyre', from verses sung to a lyre.

Never Look Up
Far, far away - the horizon
moved to the shore,
and swallowed the sky above it,
and moved across the land,
until the people were
blinded from the truth.
Prolific heroes challenged
the horizon, where it meets the shore,
magnificent castles were risen
contouring its' features,
historical, histories liaisoned
in controversy within
its' apathetic environment,
modern living established
a society in its'
catalytic atmosphere,
this embellishment defined
a human race.
'Twas only shelter, that never
carried any intention
beyond itself,
a horizon, and a shore,
that swallows the sky

CATANIC PANIC APPRISED

Catanic Panic is best described as a far-out effort basking in valuable - though naive, musical and visual experimentation. The band is staged as two members who take part in vocals, the shepherding of computer manufactured lead vocals, and the instrumentation beautifully composed by Kevin Macleod. Solo-artist Alexis Pena Goco understatedly sets his male residence behind ingénue "Catanic" whom he personifies, and avails as the lead presence executing this by adorning upon himself - femme accents off the beaten path of cross-dressing - coupled along as a social disguise or masquerade. Consecutive to their theatrical presence is thier trickling robotic, computer lead vocals that "they" (Alexis and his second self "Catanic") mime with a sort of chanting, under their breathful murmurs - or singing? - maybe so;
