A note from Ed and Barbara,...It's been a pleasure working with these youngsters during the past two years as a coach, sound person, guitar instructor and cheering section. This CD is but a small sample of what these young ones have accomplished individually and together in a band. Each member is highly self-motivated in the learning and playing of their instruments and they are continually progressing as we adults provide them with opportunities to experience success. We met James [eight years old] during our first NGM [Next Generation Musicians] talent show two years ago. He played Iron Man. He was six years old, and the crowd was amazed to see a person as young as he was playing as well as he did. James's father Jim had taught James to play the guitar, but he decided for James to take guitar lessons. James had grown from being a good rhythm player to also becoming a proficient lead player. Guess it pays to have two guitar teachers. We met Chris[ 10 years old] around the same time as James, as a guitar student. It wasn't long, before Chris leaned more in favor of playing the bass guitar. About six months later, Chris was also wowing the crowd at an NGM meeting with his own bass solo. Chris had expressed an interest in Black Sabbath music to me one day at a lesson. Which gave me an idea to hook him up with James. James's father took care of the rest by finding a drummer and sharing his living room for the boys to practice. Chris became proficient at singing and playing bass guitar at the same time during this period. Chris continues to improve his craft as well as other art forms such as choir, piano, guitar, dance, acting, etc...He is also a Black Belt karate. We met Andrew [ten years old] several years ago when I played in a band with his dad. He would eagerly play a drum solo in between breaks when the band played at family oriented gigs. His feat could barely reach the base and high hat petals back then. Andrew joined 3-D a little over a year ago. He got a new set of drums at Christmas and he worked hard to add his personal touch to the songs the band plays. We met Kristian [10 years old] through guitar lessons also around the same time as James and Chris. Kristian has an interest in a variety of music styles. He has nimble fingers and is a quick study. When I found out that Kristian was quite a bit younger than he looks, I thought he too may be interested in joining the band. Kristian's input has given the band a fuller sound. As winter approached, the Christmas tree took the place of the drum set in Jim's living room. But that didn't stop 3-D They loaded up their stuff and move to Kristians' garage where they continue to practice to this day. It's been fun witnessing the growing talent of these young people and the ongoing support of their parents that make 3-D what it is. They went on to win first place in the band division at the third annual NGM talent show this year. They took second place last year. Part of the winnings enabled 3-D to make the CD recording your hearing now. Hope you enjoy it. COMIN ATCHA 3-D
