John Sevilla & Severe Weather
- Epic Blues -
A Whirlwind of Guitar
Emerging from the time warp that is music production, comes John Sevilla. After eight years of producing twenty two full length CD’s by various recording artist, John has as pre-destined, thrown his hat into the ring of Blues Rock, with his debut album entitled - “Event Horizon.” John’s guitar presence is epic, and spellbinding. Melodic guitar Phrasing that blows you away. Guitar lovers everywhere “Event Horizon” is a must have for your collection! John Sevilla... the real “Johnny Be Good” - Pre-destined to make music - As an infant, Johnny’s cradle lullabies were a constant rotation of the Beatles, Jimmy Hendrix, Black Sabbath and every thing in-between, thanks to his two older teenaged brothers, as well as a steady dose of Mariachi music from his parents. John owes his love for guitar to his two older brothers who pushed him at a young age, as if they were training him for where he is today. There was always music in his house growing up.
Toledo native, John has been involved in the local music scene since the age of just sixteen years old, when his older brothers would have him sit in with house bands at local nite clubs, and all night jam sessions. With his awesome guitar performances, he soon became known as - J.J. (Jammin John). John was living and breathing music, and this would set the pace for his future. In his senior year of high school, he formed his own power trio band known as “Obliveion.” John’s style shifted from Blues to Heavy Metal, influenced by his second oldest brother Pete. But John could not shed his Blues roots Which were planted by his oldest brother Rudy.
John thrived on the power of metal, but felt that the metal gigging circuit was becoming more for entertainment and show, than it was for the pursuit of musical expression.
He missed the trueness and soulfulness of the blues. John’s solution was - Heavy Blues. The group transformed into J.J. Almaguer’s Obliveion. It was in this band, that he was able to just be himself and really explore and experience his music.
John’s love for these two genera’s of music first reached its apex when his two older brothers took him to his first concert at the age of fourteen. It changed his life for ever.
An experience that felt like his right of passage to the supernatural realm of music. It was a tidal wave of heavy blues guitar that blow him away, and left him in a state of shock for two weeks. The source of this tidal wave was Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush... John knew what he had to do with his life.
After several years touring the Midwest with his brand of Heavy Blues, John became disillusioned by managers and rotating band members. John turned his focus to studio recording, and began working on his blues rock demo. But Johns talent as a Recording Engineer and Music Producer where soon in high demand, and it quickly became a full time job. Even though he had produced twenty two note worthy CD’s, John knew his real calling as a guitarist was lost in a time warp of producing music for other artist.(see producers bio) In 2008 John as turned his attention back to his roots – Blues Guitar. With his new band called Severe Weather and his debut CD – “Event Horizon” The time has come. The term “Event Horizon” is used by scientist to describe the point of no return to one of the most massive and powerful phenomenons in the known universe. - Watch out for Severe Weather -
