About Me

All though Etheric has been disbanded since 2005, this page will remain up as a tribute to their legacy and musical message, to all who have supported, and had their lives touched by the bands presence or exsistence. We will continue to keep the fans updated on any new endeavours its members may choose. Thanks to you all. -T.R........................................................ ..................................................Touted as one of Charlotte, North Carolina’s best local bands, ETHERIC has all the markings of a great band destined to take music in a new direction. Less than two years and already playing to sellout crowds of 300+ people in their hometown, ETHERIC captivates audiences with a unique blend of something from the past and what is undoubtedly the future. This female-fronted rock band is said to echo the sounds of U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Evanescence, Heart, and even Rush - a unique combination indeed. The meeting of Eastern enlightened lyrics and Western influenced rock creates not only a unique sound, but a profound experience of dark and light that speaks to us all.Formed in April of 2002, the destiny of these four musicians to make great music together was obvious from the first few tentative grooves in jam sessions fondly remembered as having been held in Cheetah’s bedroom. Not enough can be said about lead singer Christine Navarro’s amazing vocals and enrapturing stage presence. With a voice that is described simultaneously as both heavenly and haunting, she lures the audience with her sensuality, her strength, her beauty, and the soul-revealing honesty of her lyrics. Cheetah’s drumbeats are typically strong and aggressive, yet fine-tuned to the music’s transitions from heavy to light. Nute’s bass style matches his character, steady, solid, smooth, though occasionally surprisingly unexpected. Guitarist Todd Rierson is repeatedly compared to the Edge from U2. The harmonics and layered textures of his guitar sound are truly extraordinary. Not only is ETHERIC’s music immediately identifiable as great rock, but the lyrics are powerful in their own right. In time with the new consciousness movement, Christine Navarro, also a certified yoga instructor, brings her yogi wisdom to every song. ETHERIC speaks to the tragic beauty of life that poets have written about since the beginning of the Word. Sprinkled with quotes from great poets and philosophers including Rumi, Thoreau, and Blake, these songs call upon the wisdom of the ages for guidance in the very real world of today. This unique sound and amazing synergy won ETHERIC immediate local acclaim, performing at the 2003 106.5 End of Summer Weenie Roast, alongside national acts like Staind, Sevendust, and Kill Hannah. They have opened for national touring act King’s X and were the winners of the Jack Black School of Rock Battle of the Bands. ETHERIC continues to experience sold-out performances at home and is quickly moving into Atlanta and other major markets throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast as they begin touring heavily in 2005.Their first 4-song demo CD quickly sold out forcing them to release in short order a live, 7 song CD and 3 song DVD combination entitled “Live at the Steeple Lounge.” In less than six months, a second run of the CD was pressed. ETHERIC is currently recording its first full-length studio album with Chris Kress of PMD Recording. Chris has recorded such artists as The Dave Matthews Band, Galactic, and My Morning Jacket. Eager anticipation for the CD release expected in May is steadily building as the ETHERIC gains momentum and attention. This is not just a band to see and hear. It is an experience. Words of wisdom, layers deep, wash over people’s spirits as the heart stopping, bass thumping rhythm moves their feet, heads nodding in unison to a beat that cannot be ignored. You cannot stand outside the music. The music subsumes. The audience surrenders. The great Rumi smiles. If you listen, you too will surrender into Bliss. For bookings or additional information, you may contact Etheric’s manager, Sherry L.
