In celebration of the 250th birthday of Scottish poet ROBERT BURNS, composer Vadim Krakovsky is recording a series of new melodies and arrangements for Burns’s timeless lyrics. Vadim’s first release in the series, "Rigs o’ Barley," is a catchy, rollicking ode to romance in the barley fields. Listeners describe it as "intriguing", "impressive" and "beautiful"!Vadim, who lives in San Francisco and originally hails from Russia, is a graduate of music school in Odessa (Ukraine) and has been a passionate Robert Burns fan since his youth. By enlisting the talents of skilled musicians, singers and recording engineers, Vadim opens a window onto 18th century Scotland, bringing modern appeal to the classic texts. The beauty and character of Burns’ lyrics, written in English and a light Scots dialect, are enhanced by Vadim’s sensitive musical touch.Vadim’s vision is to use the occasion of the 250th anniversary to spread the word about Burns beyond those who are only familiar with his best-known song, "Auld Lang Syne." Future projects include composing music to the work of other Scottish and Irish poets, including Thomas Moore and Alexander Boswell.A non-performing songwriter, Vadim welcomes interest from performing artists seeking fresh songs to add to their repertoires. In addition to "celtic folk" projects, he writes songs in the traditional Pop and light Rock genres. For further information, please send a message to Vadim, and check back on this page for updates about other releases.
