About Me

In mid 1998 the live music scene in Sydney, Australia sucked!! Rock bands were replaced by indie noodling and angst ridden grunge burnouts who would never admit to loving rock moves or monster lickage. The fools. It was around this time Troy Scerri, Charlie O'Neill and Dave Tomley began to assemble a band with a desire to play the kind of music they listened to at home, but found it impossible to find on the live circuit. They recruited the brutal Mark Mills and doom lord Jason Breitfuss and =DAREDEVIL= evolved.More like devolved with a starting point heavily influenced by The Stooges, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy and Rose Tattoo. The band knew rock was alive and well elsewhere with bands like C.O.C, The Hellacopters and Spiritual Beggars providing more motivation to kick Sydney's sleepy head in.Gigging proved a challenge early on with venues being cautious over the bands huge volume but a support slot with Monster Magnet boosted the bands profile ensuring a growing fan base. Recording tracks for their debut EP on Chatterbox records was spread over a 5 month period marking the start of the bands "slow as fuck" approach. Featuring 6 tracks the 3rd Degree Burnout EP was an acclaimed example of the bands live sound. The blend of AC/DC and Black Sabbath made for an awesome groove and the band continued to define it's sound. The support slot with Monster Magnet proved so successful that further supports with Fu Manchu and Nebula were offered. As the band began the slow preparation of writing for another stint in the studio they were approached by Sabbath freak Andrew McKenzie who offered to manage the band. The band happily agreed allowing more time to concentrate on The Rock. The band signed to High Beam Records and recorded over 10 tracks for what was to become Big Block Rock. The release of the album saw =DAREDEVIL= tour interstate to Canberra and Melbourne with further shows in and around Sydney. As with the first EP the album received rave reviews from web sites dedicated to high octane rock'n'roll with Spain, Greece and America being big supporters. Tracks from Big Block Rock began to appear on local and national radio broadcasters so =DAREDEVIL= decided to release a single and video clip for the track "Throw The Dice". Not long after this the band fell apart but regrouped in 2004 and released a split 7" single with Canberra's Pod People. Another promo clip was also filmed for the track from it "The King" The band will enter their own studio in early 2006 to record a full length LP
