About Me

Derek Arnold was born in Charlotte on February 24th, 1983. He began learning music at 4 with the help of his father. Derek's father is Harvey Dalton Arnold, bassist for legendary southern rock band The Outlaws. Harvey created the perfect environment for Derek to learn at his own pace without sacrificing his love of music. On his 10th birthday, Derek recieved a set of drums. Time to learn drums. In middle school Derek played clarinet and bass clarinet in band. In high school he started the group Blue Dust Box with 3 of his class-mates. This band charted at 8th for two weeks on the Australian un-signed charts. At age 19, Derek learned to play guitar and bass. He has been called the "best bassist in Raleigh" (his father now living in Hillsborough). Since then Derek has played with John Custer, Kenny Soule, Daniel "Slick" Ballinger, Teresa Williams, Nathan Davis, Skeeter Brandon, Nick Hagelin, and lots more. Derek now lives in Raleigh and composes classical music, furthering his career through scoring.
