About Me

A long, long time ago, in a universe parallel to our own, I attended a school for the performing arts and decided to make music my career. In this universe however, I became a dancer. After I retired (in my thirties) I returned to my first love -- music. I play clawhammer banjo in a couple of dance bands: The Esteemed Clams, and The Wildroot String Band. I also enjoy singing and playing a number of instruments with my musical partner, Kathy Vandemortel. On my ownsome, I enjoy playing fiddle and classical guitar. I love jamming and can usually be found at old time festivals in the summer. My tastes are quite eclectic -- Appalachian, Rennaisance, Baroque, and songs of the sea -- but all of this music has a rhythm in common, and it all tends to surprise in marvellous, crooked ways. To me, it is all dance music.
