Nahi Sane is a Tifa group from Moordrecht, Netherlands, who have their roots in The Moluccas/Maluku (an islands group in the east of Indonesia a.k.a. the Spice Islands). The Tifa is a traditional Moluccan drum, which is used at special occasions, such as weddings and parties, but also at funerals. At all of the cultural expressions, like all the Moluccan dances, the Tifa has its central function. Until now, especially at the Moluccas, the Tifa is also used for communication, by beating certain types of rhythm in several villages or areas, the people know what is going on or what to do.The members of Nahi Sane have learned playing the Tifa when they were kids. In most of the cases the Tifa is the first instrument, as a child you learn to play. By watching the older generation playing the Tifa, the love of playing the Tifa kept growing for the members of Nahi Sane. Some of the members went back to their villages at the Moluccas to study playing the Tifa. After a number of occasions some members started talking to start a Tifa group, with the idea to maintain our Moluccan culture and traditions.
