Also play in bands called BRAINERD, BRASS TACKS, and THE BON SQUAD (AC/DC Bon Scott Tribute Band) where I play my guitar really f*ckin loud.Here's what our record label said about us (BRAINERD); ZODIAC KILLER RECORDS This band/album is the result of LONG-TERM DRUG ABUSE, and a GOOD CULT GONE BAD. You see, these boys who ACTUALLY MET IN CHURCH CHOIR, are none other than THE FUCKER FAMILY MOUNTAIN CULT!!! Imagine if you will if the FOO FIGHTERS sounded more like the MELVINS being fronted by JEFF CLAYTON of ANTISEEN and sang songs about subjects like ED GEIN, JESUS, MULTIPLE SUICIDES, ONE-LEGGED-BARTENDER-HOOKERS, FIVE-LEGGED DOGS, and SPIRITUAL CONSCIOUSNESS. Heavy as fuck guitars, solid backbeat, and some nice production, sometimes reminiscient of early HELMET records. It is laced with both lilting melodies and ear crushing rhythms. BRAINERD STANDS IT UP AND BURNS IT OUT!! You know when you eat shrooms’ and yer’ waitin’ for em’ to kick in...and you start hearin’ shit? ANIMAL MOTHER SOUNDS EXACTLY FUCKIN’ LIKE THAT!! Straight up ROCK N’ ROLL from the crooked side of the street. As a side note....most people don’t know about the ZODIAC/MANSON CONNECTION. THIS ALBUM DESCRIBES IT IN FULL DETAIL!! BRAINERD-"ANIMAL MOTHER" CD REVIEW BRAINERD: Animal Mother: CD My snotty review of this ........Madison band’s last disc prompted such a shitstorm of local message board flamejobbery that i’m tempted to do it again, just for the sheer sport of it all. However, the band has now cut their otherwise uninteresting White-Grungers-On-Gein faux Sub-Pop shenanigans with a few neat tricks, like briefly sounding like a fucked up Joy Division ((the first fifty seconds of “Jesus”)), or even coming across as tangentially glammy ((“Tabula Rasa”)), thus i cannot dismiss this record outright just for the time-honored purpose of “starting shit,” although i did consider it. Other than that, i dunno, i think this sounds like what grunge used to sound like. ........Wisconsin’s progressive reputation continues unabated! BEST SONG: “Tabula Rasa” BEST SONG TITLE: “Ed Gein,” of course! FANTASTIC AMAZING TRIVIA FACT: Looks a lot like the Dwarves “Blood, Guts & Pussy” album, but redder, and without the midget. –Rev.
