Alfie1Bateria

Alfie1Bateria a.k.a. Alfie a percussionist, drummer, salsa casino / samba dancer, music teacher and DJ. He is versed in Brazilian, Haitian, West African, Cuban, Puerto Rican and North American styles of percussion. Alfie is co-musical director of Loco Bloco Dance & Drum Ensemble (www.locobloco.org) and Sambamora (www.sambamora.com). He is dedicated to helping youth and adult artists acquire the skill to express themselves dynamically through music and dance. Alfie teaches Afro-Brazilian percussion ensemble (Bateria / Bloco) with an emphasis on North, Caribbean, and South American rhythms and their african and afro-latino traditional, contemporary, and urban contemporary origins. Alfie focuses on the mix of cultures and ideas that has made the San Francisco Bay famous. Alfie also teaches at the Windsor Bloco and at the SF Arts Education Project. In addition, Alfie teaches classes in salsa casino and salsa casino rueda. Dj Alfie1Bateria's monthly residency "CubaCaribe" along side Dj DarkRum (Añejo Production) @ The Ballyhood Cafe 3372 19th corner mission in San francisco. Where you can hear his eclectic and soulful collection from the four corners of the Earth. Alfie is also the official Dj for CubaCaribe.org events, such as Cuba Camp II (2005), Cuba Camp Hawaii (2006). DJ Alfie will be mixing the best in Cuban music throughout the Forth Annual CubaCaribe festival 2008, and Cuba Camp Hawaii 2008 (Dec.).
