I'm Heidi and I have and always will like to read for personal enjoyment (not just for school. Though, depending on the book, that can be alright as well). Most teachers have to force kids to read, but I read so much as a kid, I actually pissed the teachers off sometimes.
I also write. Quite a bit. It's to be a novel in three volumes as all good novels used to be written. So I was very amused when I found the following watching a fim adaptation of Oscar Wilde's play, "The Importance of Being Earnest" where it is quoted, "Do not speak slightingly of the three-volume novel." I have notebooks and notebooks full of material for my story I've been writing for 8 years now. I love writing and I love bringing characters, emotions, and places in my imagination to life. It helps when you have a bestest buddy who will draw stuff for you too. Congratulations to Angel's Tale (formerly called MotU) for hanging in there since August, 1999.
Angel's Tale

Canst not thou minister to a mind diseased,
Pluck from the memory a rooted sorrow,
Raze out the written troubles of the brain,
And with some sweet oblivious antidote
Cleanse the stuffed bosom of that perilous stuff
Which weighs upon the heart?
--William Shakespeare. Macbeth: Act 5, Scene 3.

Anyways, now that the preliminaries are out of the way, I can tell you I was born in NorCal, lived there till I was 7, raised in Spain until I was 12 and Japan until I was 16. Now I'm in Missouri. It's a crazy world. I like to shop (when I have money to do so), do my own thing, and hang out with my lovely friends (esp. Cara and Kristen) and that other guy...whats his name...oh yeah...Rocky!). I know so many people who try and pull themselves off as being complex and unique like you could never get to know them. Well, I guess everyones a little complex and unique in their own way. But I'm a pretty simple creature with simple wants and it's not hard to figure me out at all I don't think. My Grammy actually pinned me one summer when I was in the Bay Area visiting family. She said "It's really easy to make Heidi happy. All she needs is milk, meat and chocolate." Well said, Grammy. Well said. Just add in a good book, a decent bank balance, and last (but certainly not least) my super awesome man, Mr. Rocky M. and that is an equation for perfection in my mind.
I love food. I'm not a total pig, but if you were ever to make me dinner, these are the things that make me happy beyond words: Fried Chicken, Baked Chicken (hell, I just like chicken) Thai Coconut Curry, and Japanese Tempura Prawns. I only eat Japanese curry if I'm introducing someone to its amazingness, but I'm trying to abstain until I am reunited with my twin, Megan. Our rule used to be anytime we found a curry shop in our travels we had to stop and sample. This happened often and it annoyed our friends from time to time haha. So, in her honor, I try to avoid Jap curry and its delcious yumminess.
Latest News: I am now an official nursing student! I am in clinical study now and so far I am loving every minute of it. Clinicals are a bit nerve wracking but I'm gradually adjusting and learning to hold my own. Meanwhile we've been in the apt a little over a year and still enjoying it very much. Miss BB is now a grown up girl to a veterinarian's approximation but she will always be my tiny kitten baby.

My Interests

After taking several "sorting quizzes" it's official. I am a Ravenclaw. That means I'm one of the clever kids. Ha ha.
Certifiable Anglophile (For those scratching their heads at the terminology, wondering if it means something dirty: It actually means that I am an avid admirer of England and all things English)

Japanese culture and language (I speak okay, my pronunciation is pretty good and all, but my main strength is reading and translating)

Nursing school stuff, reading as long as the book is interesting, video games, WRITING, and MUSIC. I love to sing. I like to fancy myself the possessor of some talent in that area, but I never really let anyone listen because I'm afraid that my little ego bubble will burst if I ever find out the truth
Random Interests: Peppermint Hot Chocolates at Starbucks (when in season), non-fat no-sugar coldstone (and it STILL tastes amazing!), hot english muffins with melty butter mmm, english breakfast tea, cats and kittens (esp striped ones named BB), great danes, cute yet cheap clothes, shoes, purses, dark chocolate, all things Disney
And hot firefighters named Rocky Merritt 3333

I'd like to meet:

First off: You. Whoever you are.
L'arc en Ciel. They are an awesome band.

And Fellow Californians both current and former

Facing west, from California's shores,
Inquiring, tireless, seeking what is yet unfound,
I, a child, very old, over waves, towards the house of maternity, the
land of migrations, look afar,
Look off the shores of my Western Sea—the circle almost circled;
For, starting westward from Hindustan, from the vales of Kashmere,
From Asia—from the north—from the God, the sage, and the hero,
From the south—from the flowery peninsulas, and the spice islands;
Long having wander'd since—round the earth having wander'd,
Now I face home again—very pleas'd and joyous;
(But where is what I started for, so long ago?
And why is it yet unfound?)
~~Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass.

My new #1 hero is Mr. Walt Disney. Apart from being responsible for some seminal childhood memories, I am now in the process of reading his biography and in a time when most animators were just slapping things together with as many lame jokes as possible, Disney strove always for quality. Above everything else. He wanted to be the best out there and he demanded a lot from his studio.
