Meet JAMES JACKSON of St. Louis, one of "The Show Me" State's best kept secrets. James began his percussive career at the age of three, playing the congas for an ethnic dance group. In addition to his early training in percussion and drum technique, James studied piano until the age of 11.
James' first playing outlet was his church's choir. Later, while in high school, he studied jazz and music theory while "playing out" with local bands. At the same time he absorbed the influences of Billy Cobham, Dennis Chambers, Will Kennedy, Dave Weckl, and Steve Gadd to name a few. He has toured with the Gospel Stage Play, "O Lord What Now." Off broadway run of "Crowns" (2005), and recently just finished a tour with "The Altar Boyz" (2007). James was featured in the October (2004) issue of Modern Drummer Magazine in the up and coming and on the move section.Currently James plays for Grace Church St. Louis which has a membership of 5000 plus weekly. He is the drummer for the acclaimed band, Good 4 The Soul (G4TS). James also wrote and produced his instructional DVD, "A Drummer's Confession - From The Inside Out" and his debut album "Its Time". James' production company (JAJ2 Music) is now recording and producing new artists and band projects.James' goal is to continue to go to greater dimensions in his music career through playing with musicians who love the art and gift of music and ultimately love God.
