Wizeburn is an indie-rock group that was formed by Gene Solis Jr. in 2007. Gene (a.k.a. Lo) is the former lead singer/songwriter for the now-disbanded hard rock band, Teen Slut. Results of Teen Slut's success were frequent spots on MTV, and placement in various motion pictures. Under Gene's aegis, they performed at venues such as The Palace, The Hollywood Palladium, The Troubadour, Spaceland (Silverlake, CA), The Joint, Dragonfly, The Roxy, and even made an on-stage appearance at The Gibson Amphitheatre. Gene himself has also shared the stage and studio with artists such as Godhead, Kurupt, Phife (Tribe Called Quest), The Rhyme Syndicate, IMA Robot and Supreme Beings of Leisure. To broaden his experience, Gene worked at various recording studios spending valuable time with the likes of 311, Beck, Papa Roach, Dave Wakeling (English Beat), Incubus and the late Elliott Smith, as well as world famous producers such as Tom Rothrock, Jay Baumgartner and Butch Vig. It was during the time he spent recording and producing other artists that Gene began writing and recording songs of his own in a style that was heavily influenced by his broad spectrum of musical tastes. Slowly, he began to focus more on the solo project that was rapidly taking shape before him. After parting ways with the Teen Slut band in 2005, he sought to pursue his own interests--create music which represented the heart-felt, lyrical style of his songwriting, and after pondering his own musical direction, Wizeburn has become his latest project. Wizeburn, based in the Los Angeles South Bay, is already getting worldwide attention. Gene has written, produced, recorded and mixed every Wizeburn song to-date, and Wizeburn has begun to create a buzz throughout the industry. Drawing from an existing fan base, Gene has assembled a Wizeburn Street Team and is currently spreading the word and promoting the release of the Wizeburn full length CD. Known for his prolific songwriting abilities and his excellent mixing capabilities, Gene's many fans and music-enthusiast friends are glad to finally hear the finished product. The Wizeburn songs that have already hit the internet and local radio have drawn comparisons to groups such as Sublime, Jack Johnson and T-Rex. It is hard to compare the songs directly to any one artist, so whether you're a past fan of Gene's music, or just getting hip to Wizeburn now, you're in store for some great music. There is definitely something really original-yet comfortable- about Wizeburn.
