Metro was in contract with New Flyer of America Corporation. Metro has 3 different models. The low floor tinted windows buses are known as the 3000's. Those are numbered from 3000-3020. The other models are standard 40' buses, which are numbered from 5000-5399. The low floor model is usually known as the 5000's and are numbered from 5600-5999. .. These are 40' buses, that were manufactured by New Flyer of America. Metro has about 223 of these buses (please refer to the picture above). These are numbered from 5400-5999. These New Flyer buses was given to Metro in 1995 by a transit company in Las Vegas. These buses are runned by Diesel Fuel, and Metro has about 20 of these in it's fleet.Metro is currently in contract with North American Bus Industries (NABI or NABIUSA). Metro has nearly 2,000 buses in it's fleet by NABI. and is schedualed to get at least 100 more buses by 2008. This is the NABI 40' LFW. Metro has about 1,000 of them. Metro has atleast 400 of these areodynamic buses. 29 was put on the successful Metro Orange Line, 189 was put in the Metro Rapid service and 200 are being put in the Metro Local service. Metro has an initial order of 250 more buses to be put in the Metro Local service. These buses run from 9200-9229 (Metro Orange Line). 9230-9399 (Metro Rapid). 9400-9599 (Metro Local). .. .. .. .. .. .. The Metro Expo Line of the Los Angeles County Metro Rail is a planned light-rail line in Los Angeles, which would run from Downtown Los Angeles to Culver City and eventually to Santa Monica. Its route makes use of the former Exposition Boulevard right-of-way, from which its name comes. The Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority (EMLCA) [1] is the project manager and the agency that will construct the line; however, virtually all of the staff are also employees of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). In December 2005 the board of Metro approved the Final Environmental-Impact Report. All funds to construct the line have been obtained from local and state sources, obviating the need to wait with other localities for funds from the federal government. EMLCA broke ground on Friday, September 29, 2006. The line will start operations to Culver Junction (Venice Blvd/Robertson Blvd) in Culver City by June 2010 or earlier. .. .. .. .. .. .. Carpooling is two or more people sharing the ride, usually taking turns driving their own vehicles. By carpooling to work, not only can you reduce the stress of fighting traffic everyday, but you can save thousands of dollars a year on car maintenance, wear and tear, and gasoline. And, carpoolers not only bypass the gas pump—they can also cruise past traffic in time-saving carpool lanes where on average commuters save 36 minutes a day. Discover just how much money you can save by using our commute cost calculator. Also, use our on-line ridematching service, CommuteSmart.info to get an instant list of potential carpool partners – people who live and work near you and have a similar schedule. It’s free and only takes a few minutes to register. Or, you can get carpool matching information instantly by calling 1.800.COMMUTE, and selecting the “rideshare” option. I'd like to meet:

________ ________DID YOU KNOW? In 2006, The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority was named the No. 1 Transit system in America for 2006 by the American Public Transportation Association. The bus on the background is the model NABI 60' BRT on the Metro Orange Line. The head sign that is green above here is the old kind of head signs which is used on bus #'s 1200-7299. And the head sign below here is the new kind of head sign on bus #'s 7300-9900. The LACMTA operates the nation's largest fleet of CNG-powered buses. The CNG fleet reduces emissions of particulates by 90%, carbon monoxide by 80%, and greenhouse gases by 20% over the 500 remaining diesel powered buses in the fleet. Alternative fuel buses have logged more than 450 million operating miles since 1993, an industry record. Metro operates four types of bus services which are distinguished by the color of the buses. White w/ a yellow stripe for the Metro Local, orange/gray also for the Metro Local, red/gray for the Metro Rapid and blue.gray for the Metro Express. For "BUSFANS", here are links to several BusFan website. Check out Chaffee's Bus Page @ http://www.chaffeeyiu.com. Also check out the OFFICIAL LA BUS FAN website. It has most information of public transit companies in Southern California.
