without music-life would be a mistake-

About Me

Mythical Thingy was concieved in the autumn of 2007-Mum-Son,Pops and Mcbarker-living in a tiny flat by the sea-".Pissing off our music-hating neighbors became a pastime-they smashed on our walls-someone jumped me in the laundry room-stomped on our ceiling..guess they didn't like it..oh well-time to move.Again.Ian(genius of the 4 trk) and Mom- were tracking songs-quite respectfully-mostly headphones/acoustic guitars-in our" Instant Art"- time frame of one hour- We got lucky-when a good friend/musician-Cleary..opened his second floor apt-to us..He has his own 6 trk tape deck-loads of vintage gear-and is a true historian of 50s/60s/70s music-our own brian Jones-plays everything-from banjo/piano/harp/guitar-Now we had our dream apt. of music and good vibes-Pops(Eric)is a fantastic guitarist-always makes magical things happen to these lil songs. His cousin-in law-Pat Hart plays bass-on alltogether/falldownstars..Feb2008-was plagued by bipolar breakdowns/depression-and non-stop bad luck-yet through this hard living time period-we still got together-and made music- some of these these tracks chronicle this period. Audrey and Eric were members of the 360s-Boston based band-who toured/recorded throughout the 90s-their 3 albums-(Illuminated/Supernatural/Strawberry stone)-combined hard rock/psych/garage-elements-signed to RCA- and recorded a track with The infamous David Peel(lower east side) for High Times Norml compilation-in 1995 performed live on The BBC-and toured the states/europe. You can check out 360s videos-on Yahoo music-under 360s..and Youtube. After 360s broke up-Audrey and her sister Lori recorded as The Pendulum Floors-their full length cd-"A Kicking Good Time"(Villa Villakula)-was played on the BBC John Peel show/and Live on Pipeline-Recorded a track for the Sonic Chimp-compilation-P.F.-recorded their cd-entirely on a realistic walkman cassette recorder-featuring optigan/guitars-toy instruments-on "Whatever happened to The pendulum Floors." .Ian also played guitar on these recordings-he was 10 yrs old at that time. Jeff Buckley was introduced to Pendulum Floors-from Inger Lorre(Nymphs)-Their song-The Yard of Blonde Girls-was released on his "My Sweetheart The Drunk lp-That amazing voice -I remember hearing his version--for the first time-It was so beautiful.Jeff is an incrediable artist/songwriter/musician-we were so blown away that he chose to record the song- ..This song had a second verse/outro that we had not played for anyone-so the second verse lyric-was added later by Inger -who demoed the song-with Jeff-for her record-Transcendentel Medication- Micah P. Hinson did a wonderful-woody guthriesque version of The yard of blonde girls- on the Dream Brother compilation-songs of Tim/Jeff Buckley. We have yet to release our own version of the song-apart from a demo-the 360s did in 2002-the only recording of Pendulum Floors doing the song was the original acoustic version-recorded on the walkman-live from our bedroom- along with a batch of other new songs-that included Mythology and drunkedness/Stone Carnations-from 1995/96..Check out our blog-for a fanvid i found on YOUTUBE-that gives a bit of history on the song-with Jeff Buckley performing the song live(audio only)-and images...Ian Clark plays in the amazing-Pure Impact,Flick knife Flicks, and the Stunts! Mythical Thingy would not exist without his inspired musicianship and natural feel/talent for recording music-He plays Guitar/Drums/bass/Keys/Sings-and lays down a mean tambo! We have a natural, freewheelin' approach-to working/recording-kinda telepathic-and always fun!Its that family musical/connection-and although hes busy with his other projects-he is the spiritual center of MT-and without his imput/and knowledge we would not have these songs on myspace..All songs on this page were recorded in less than an hour in Ians room on tascam 2488mk11 with a audio technica 30 condenser and an sm57 We also use 4 track(tascam)deck...Lots of Coffee/Tea/American Spirits/Good Greenz and Ian= "Instant Recording"... Lo-mid fidelity/ DIY forever... href="http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y34/ianimpact/?action =view&current=Picture051.jpg" target="_blank" ..
