Stepping into the Ninth Circle of Hell is not quite as scary as it sounds, at least not when the venue is Sharkeys on George Street in Hull on Wednesday nights where instead of having your soul tortured for eternity you will hear some of the best rock and metal bands from Yorkshire and further afield performing on a brand new purpose built stage through a top quality and newly installed live PA system. From crunching power metal riffs to thrashing mosh pits and a touch of progressive energy The Ninth Circle will provide local rock & metal fans with a real variety of music to get their teeth into with two bands appearing every week and Sharkeys' world famous cocktails and drinks offers keeping things moving. The Ninth Circle in some ways harks back to Hull's rock night roots from the 70's & 80's when George Street was a hot bed of rock nights from the famous Trogg Bar, later to become Lasers and now the Goose to nightclubs like Romeo's & KU2 and even Sharkeys dark past as The Georgian which was a well known bikers pub with regular rock disco in the back room where the venues stage is now. Over the years Hull and East Yorkshire has produced some great bands than never quite made it to stardom but maybe should have and at The Ninth Circle you will get the chance to see metal & rock acts trying to go one better than their recent and not so recent musical fore fathers as well as the odd blast from the past or more established band. The booking policy at The Ninth will focus on quality and the aim is to feature local bands alongside up and coming acts from further afield with contacts already made with several national booking agencies to bring you bands before and when they are gracing the front pages of magazines, papers and websites from Kerrang! & Metal Hammer to Myspace and beyond. Check out the forthcoming listings for The Ninth Circle at Sharkeys Live to make sure you don't miss the best next big thing or local heroes warming up for their stab at stardom.
