YRF- The Future of the WestHailing from the streets of Los Angeles and beyond, this two-man hip-hop
group composed of Neesin "Y.C." Williams and Craig "Blak" Kelley has
emerged on the scene with a talent to rival even the most influential
forces in music. The Lakewood High School years that are memorable to
some for being filled with drama and life lessons were the years that
shaped them into becoming groundbreaking artists. Meeting on the
basketball courts, they were drawn to each other through their love of
Jay-Z, but quickly turned into band mates on the pursuit of musical
success and entrepreneurship. Their two-man squad was quickly expanded
to include the likes of 5 other members, known as the C.R.E.A.M. Cru. As
days turned to years, one by one the members left, and left the original
two men, Y.C. and Blak, to form their own identity and break into the
business as they had entered; with each other. After the disintegration of the C.R.E.A.M. Cru, Y.C. and Blak turned to
various producers to develop their sound and make the music they had
always envisioned. With inspirations such as Marvin Gaye, Al Green, and
Michael Jackson in addition to Jay-Z, they wanted to bring a new life
and vitality to the stereotypical west coast hip-hop persona.
Eventually, they turned to their own methods, making beats and grinding
day and night to carve their own identity. Maybe it wasn't their moment,
or the industry wasn't receptive, but the group slowly came to a pause,
only to unleash a greater force on the music scene. In 2007, the duo reunited to form their most influential group to date,
Young, Rich and Famous, better known as YRF. Thanks to the guidance of
the executives and producers at Drop Squad Entertainment, Dame and Ish,
and with the expertise of some of the finest in the business, they have
made catchy club favorites such as "Bed Face" and "She's Bad." Both Dame
and Ish, also of The Wylde Bunch, molded YRF into developing such hits
and an undeniably compelling sound that quickly catapulted them into the
leading spot of the Myspace Top 50 unsigned bands in record time. Drop
Squad Entertainment's family dynamic, which includes the likes of Kiyo,
Ease Bukks, Joe Henry and The Wylde Bunch, also allowed Y.C. and Blak to
learn and mature into multi faceted musicians. Boyish good looks and
charm, combined with authentic raw talent, further enhanced their one of
a kind flavor. Their laid back vibe and feel good rhymes are without a
doubt what keeps the fans coming back for more, as they carve a new
future for the west through their creative voice and relatable,
heartfelt favorites such as "Other Guy." Beyond what is flashy and fly,
YRF connects with audiences worldwide through a common thread of family,
relationships, wild times.More than being rich and famous, Y.C. and Blak
bring an authenticity back to west coast hip hop through their unique
story, fresh lyrics, and undeniable star power.STAY FLY!!!!
