Welcome to the Hollows...

About Me

Sleepy Hollows is headless - we are made up of innerconnecting circles of DJs, Emcees, Graf Writers, B-boys and beat makers alike. The 5 Elements are elemental and theyre all represented throughout the country. The following is a bio for Bones - resident DJ, Producer and ghostwriter for the Hollows:Bones was a music lover when he came out of the womb and fell in love with Hip Hop before he knew what it really was.”I was basically like every other white kid in the suburbs, I got my hands on the hardest rap I could find and pumped that shit in my parents house and cars like there was no tomorrow. It wasn’t till I got into my teenage years that I realized that Hip Hop was more than rap and I started to develop my own style and dubbed it Head-nod-ic.” Bones now credits Gangstarr, Oukast, Biggie, OGC and the Roots as Hip Hop musical influences and has a passion for Pink Floyd, Sade, Bob Marley, D’Angelo, and Al Green.
It was at a houseparty basement in 1991 that Bones made his mark. Stealing some of his older sisters Thriller and New Edition LPs, he hi-jacked his boys grandmothers turntable and set off the Make Out Room like never before – everyone got some and the name Bones was born!
While attending James Madison University, Bones started his own promotion company and clothing line with best friend Virginia Slim and named it Verbal Industries, because… “everything is verbal…”. Verbal I was designed to bring real Hip Hop music to college campuses up and down the East Coast that were lacking a proper scene. It also was designed so that Bones didn’t have to wait tables. Verbal Industries has since graduated to the umbrella company leaving Sleepy Hollows to music production and spawning two clothing lines – Verbal I for urban wear and Nines for urban formal wear. It was at college where Bones met up with two fellow students and formed Trilogy Records (www.trilogyonwax.com ) - dedicated to bringing nothing but the finest in underground Hip Hop.
After college, Bones decided to break off from the record label to pursue other ventures, all the while keeping his ear embedded in the Hip Hop game with his mixtapes. Always a hot item, friendships have been lost over the simple act of letting someone borrow a Bones Tape:
“How you gon giv sumbudee my Bones tape when I let you hold it God?”
“Bamas came thru with 40s and blunts kid….”
“I Gets Mine” was released in 1998 during Bones stint of thinking he was Clue and contains echoed shoutouts of his then alter-ego throughout - “INDELLABLE, Indellable, indellable…” The tape (actually a tape recorded on a Tascam 4 track) is still regarded as a classic and rumors are that Bones plans to remaster and record the tape later this year – be sure to check back for updates.
“Strictly Smashin 99” was released in 1999! And once again proved that Bones is not merely confined to the Underground Hip Hop realm. This tape also enabled gumps of all ages to experience manhood once and for all and even allowed Bones’ older brother to lose his flower.
However, it was another brainchild that established this DJ. Since its inception, the “Anni-verse-ry” mixtape series has prided itself on bringing nothing but the finest in underground Hip Hop to the masses, while exposing the undeniable talent brewing from the DC metropolitan area and surrounding areas alike. The Anni-verse-ry was made to honor a dear child hood friend lost to drunk driving in 1997. ”When I do music, or anything for that matter – I feel like I have no one to prove myself to, except him.”
From helping friends lose their virginity to becoming a resident on the ESPN X-games tour (www.expn.com) in Aspen, CO and Los Angeles, CA – Bones and his career continue to reach new heights.
