Ultraviolet Ballet began in Williamsburg, VA in 2005 as a pop cover band specializing in exciting arrangements, instrumental virtuosity, and flamboyant live performances. During their time in Williamsburg, the members of Ultraviolet Ballet attended The College of William and Mary and won two of the College’s battle of the bands, earning a loyal following among students and locals. As time passed, more focus was given to writing original music, and the band quickly began to please crowds with their own brand of energetic Funk and Rock.Ultraviolet Ballet has now relocated to Charlottesville, VA where they frequently play the local venues while finishing their first album. The current lineup consists of Jesse DelGizzi, Matt Kauper, Galen Curry, and Fred Farney. All experienced musicians, members have played in such prestigious venues as Higher Ground (Burlington, VT), The Lion’s Den (NYC), Kenny’s Castaways (NYC), Charlottesville Pavilion (Charlottesville, VA), All Asia Bar (Boston, MA), Jaxx (Springfield, VA), Alley Katz (Richmond, VA), and many more in various cities along the east coast. Three members have music degrees, two from William and Mary, one from Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA. With an eclectic selection of popular cover songs as well as an ever-growing repertoire of original compositions, Ultraviolet Ballet never fails to entertain.Fan diary, Day 1Dear diary, tonight I am going to see a band called Ultraviolet Ballet. I have never heard of them. Their name does not make any sense, and one of them is named White Razzburry. I am going to see them tonight at LOCAL VENUE X more out of concern for their mental health than anything else.-BillyFan diary, Day 2Dear diary, I can barely breathe as I lay here drenched in purple amniotic fluid, my gaze firmly fixed on the smoldering ashes of my previously unfulfilling husk of a life now distant and unknown to me. I am reborn in their wake, at the foot of their purple pantheon, atop their mountain of early 80's synth. I hear frenzied whispers all around me as the lips of the many offer supplication to the lords of this violet valhalla, whose names I dare not speak. I, wrecked as I am upon the rocks of their inhuman majesty, can but regret that I was born male and thus ineligible for... what's this? The orgiastic whispers are brought to a lull, but by what? By a deep thunder, emanating from the summit, beyond the trembling masses, where the lords of this realm abide. It is there that they wage their tireless war, wrestling the demons of Funk and Rock to the ground, beating them savagely, and wresting from them their musical secrets to better serve our pliant ears. They do not feed. They do not sleep. The thunder is terrifying, and
I want more.-Cassius, formerly BillyFind Ultraviolet Ballet on Facebook and Purevolume!
