About Me

Wordspace is a Dallas-based literary arts group that sponsors live performances by local and national writers, poets, and storytellers.Robert Trammell was an author of numerous books of poetry including Jack Ruby and the Origins of the Avant-Garde in Dallas, Cicada, Cam I Sole, Famous Men, Epics, No Evidence and Queen City of the Plains. His poetry has appeared in Exquisite Corpse, Southwest Review, Southwest Review’s Fiftieth Anniversary Issue, The Dallas Morning News, Another Chicago Magazine, Travois, Temblor, Boxcar, Salt Lick, Giants Play Well in the Drizzle, Veer, texture, Issue, Borderlands, Texas Observer and a couple of hundred other magazines. Poems have been on public transportation in the Poetry in Motion Series in Dallas and Austin. He won a national competition in 1994 to write and produce ten porcelain/enamel wind panels for the Dallas Area Rapid Transit System’s Lovers Lane station. He has been Poet in Residence and has been selected as a distinguished poet for Dallas. His talks/essays have been in The America Papers, The Muses and The Angels from The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture, where he is a fellow, and in Hot Flashes, Picking Up the Tempo, and Dallas Arts Revue. He has given talks on various aspects of culture at Notre Dame, the University of California at Santa Barbara, Dallas City Hall, the University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Dallas, the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture and at Dallas City Hall. He presently is director of the Dallas-based literary organization WordSpace and is working on a film documentary on the American Civil War with James Hillman.
