Motivated by his own blue print to life, James "Hustle Man" West has always cruised in a lane of his own. From the first time the moment he jumped off the porch at the age of 12 to his now full focused passion for music, this 27-year-old rapper/ceo is determined beyond reason to make his presence in the industry of music felt.
"Half ass hustling, whether its on the block or this industry definitely won't get you the top," states West as he turns his full attention from the Pre Cut version of his latest video 'Hustle Man.'"I went hard in everything I did, around the clock. From school to doing everything needed to get by, I did what needed to be done. Transitioning into this industry now, nothing about my work ethic is going to change."
Growing up in Springfield, Tennessee,20 min outside of Nashville a place known more for its farmland and blue collar hard working locals, than Emcees it is easy to say West sprouted straight from the dirt. Although he has turned his humble beginnings into a self -motivation to make it and achieve the better of life, his road has still been less traveled. Known for his ability to keep a low profile and still make his presence felt, may somewhat stem from West being raised by his grandmother and grandfather, who after the brutal though not fatal stabbing of his mother took in West's looking to give him a more stable environment than what his mother was capable of at the time. With a fire that burned to climb out of the obscurity of small town poverty and make his life on the streets as short lived as possible, his love and passion for music were always seen as a secondary goal to achieve once other things of more importance were achieved. Effectively providing for his family and paying his own way through Tennessee State University, where a dual degree in Economics and Finance was earned, West's ability to focus on the importance and achieve his goals of stability have lead him back to his first love for creating good music.
Getting his start early at the age of 12, while simutaniously setting to the streets, West found his ability for music through the participation in various talent shows. After winning competition after competition, West's passion for music and performing turned into a career choice that would now bring him to the fore front of his movement. Having released a number of underground cuts that sparked and burned through the midsouth like wildfire attracting the support and collaborative energy of heavyweight mixtape Dj's like Don Cannon (Aphilliates) & C-Wiz (Hypnotized Minds) ,as well as countless others garnered him recognition in a number of media outlets as well as a nomination for the Southern Entertainment Awards Mixtape Rookie of the Year,and a national Distribution deal for his F20 imprint through Selecto Hits West certainly seems to be on his way.
With his full attention on his career and his new single "Hustle Man" feat. Young Buck, steadily gaining momentum at radio, paired with a video that will be at all major video outlets within a couple weeks it should be no time before everyone knows the life of the Real Hustle Man.
