About Me

The Phoenix Bonfires is the musical endeavor of tunesmith, Rich Adkins. Rich hails from Denton, Texas where he studied music at UNT, plays at local clubs, leads worship at his church and lives with his family. The 'bonfires' can be considered 'the band', or if Rich is out playing solo, then the 'bonfires' could be considered the tunage. The current sounds on the records are all Adkins covering the parts himself making the most of what he has; be it guitars, borrowing drumkits, a mandolin, etc... The musical influences and styles vary, but the content of the tunes draw from Life's journey; be it autobiographical or as a close observer. Rich works in the social service field for his day job and has gained deeper insights into living as he's worked in a treatment center with addicts of all kinds, and with foks having disabilities. You could say he's walked beside folks going through the whole gamut of harsh, difficult, hopeful, strengthening and challenging times and events. These experiences, Rich says, has deepened his persepctives on life, the struggles and the victories. He says, "When I play live, its my hope that people hear the voice of a friend, a fellow traveler on this journey of life and that some how I might encourage or inspire them along the way".
