The Reveres are a 5-piece Manchester-based band.
While performing gigs all over the North-West , mainly concentrating on Manchester and Liverpool, the band are always recording rough demos themselves, some of which are hosted here.
The Reveres have been gigging regularly since October 2006 around the Northwest from the Manchester Academy 3 to The Barfly in Liverpool. The band recently won a weekly competition on Manchester XFM as an uploaded artist and made it to the monthly final after being personally chosen to feature on the show by the stations DJ Clint Boon.
The Reveres sound is guitar based indie rock drawn from a wide range of influences, old and new. The combination of poetic lyrics and strong melodies gives The Reveres a unique and classic sound.

"The Reveres - a quintet who've lately been gathering praise from gig-goers across the region - may foot the bill tonight, but their ability to throw in a few changes of pace and to venture lyrically beyond the living for the weekend mentality suggests they could be the ones to watch here"

"OK, I won’t beat about the bush; I thoroughly enjoyed this set. From start to finish, the sound was polished and accomplished but still had appealingly raw energy, held together with consistently strong vocals, a tight rhythm section and a lead guitarist whose licks and riffs sounded like The Strokes being played by Pete Townshend. Gorgeous chorus harmonies on ‘First Attack’, effective use of wah in ‘Rules of The Inn’, a finale of all-out enthusiasm, thumping bass drums, a nice tempo change and a generally deeper, edgier tone; basically a fantastic indie-rock show that reflected their Smiths/Led Zep/Who influences whilst maintaining a sense of individuality.
The only thing that could crank them up a notch would be a bit more between-song banter. Not much is needed, but it might be the thing to set off the atmosphere already generated by their music. Great stuff."

CD Reviews
‘THE REVERES’
latest distribution, available through Myspace.
Sometimes, the tracks offered on a band’s Myspace page aren’t an accurate representation of their live performance. This, however, is not the case with this CD; it is essentially a good reflection of The Reveres ability to perform energetic, well-crafted rock songs. The infectious opening riff of ‘Same Old Scene’ establishes a tone of urgency before moving effortlessly into stylish, melodic guitar work. ‘The Gunpowder Plot’ initially generates a more minimalist groove before rocking out with driving chords, impassioned vocals and a great wah-filled solo. To conclude, ‘Boy from Britain’ presents crunching chords layered with a singing lead guitar line as well as a more sing-along chorus. Lyrics throughout are interesting and politicised without being pretentious, and overall it’s a very satisfying listen indeed.
So do listen to this, but go and see them live also as their songs really thrive in that environment.
