My Interests

Music:

Influences: Tony Clifton, ECM, Morphine, Jaco, Marco Pereira,Meshuggah, Brazilian Girls, Mal Waldron, Meshell, Eberhard Weber, Firesign Theater, A Tribe Called Quest, Boards of Canada, Jonathan Maron, Beck (Justin Meldal-Johnson kicks ass on bass) ....and I follow the work of writer/directors such as Todd Solondz, P.T. Anderson...other artists that kill me: Barnett Newman, R.W. Bowen, David Lynch, Mike Nichols, Ben Monder, Altman...read everything I can possibly find about Stanley Kubrick and watch his films regularly. I did tons of transcribing when in my 20's, mostly of bassists like Jaco Pastorius, Jeff Berlin, Steve Swallow (e.g., his solo on his tune "Como En Vietnam"), Kai Eckhardt, and Dominique di Piazza, but also Keith Jarrett (lifted the right hand solo from "Autumn Leaves"), John Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, and Charlie Christian, whose solos I would lift while at the University of Miami. My favorite recording of all time would be "Ramda" by Mice Parade...highly recommend a visit to their page...
