"A MEMORABLE debut year for Leamington's most promising young band was capped in style this week as The Illuminati played to a sweaty Cox's Yard at the launch of their new EP.
Hundreds of friends and family packed the Stratford venue along-side a host of new fans the 16-year-old four piece have picked up along the way since they formed at Trinity School in January this year.
And the Evil Disco / Santrancisco EP is bound to get them even more attention after they first made their presence felt in Leamington and Stratford stealing the show at Leam'n'Aid and taking an unlikely victory at the Battle of the Bands held in Cox's Yard this summer.
The new record contains five new songs and is a step up from the band's previous indie-pop based material in both style and substance.
The sounds are bigger and the rhythms more assured while nothing of the desire to get up and dance has been lost.
After such an impressive debut year, The Illuminati are a good bet to find their way out of Leamington to Coventry and Birmingham before conquering world.

Award-winning band the Illuminati released their debut EP this week.
Following their success at the battle of the bands competition at Cox's Yard in Stratford six months ago, the four 16-year-old members have been writing new, "meatier" material and are confident that it will help attract a wider audience to their sound.
Drummer Josh Lally says the band's musical influences come from the likes of the Cure and Joy Division and was looking forward to launching the record, called Evil Disco / San Tran Cisco, in Stratford this week. The band gave away 250 copies of their new record, which was produced by Matt Terry, to fans at Cox's Yard on Tuesday night as a thank you for their support.
While the majority of the former Warwickshire school students have now moved to Stratford, lead singer Owen Lloyd is currently studying for his A-levels at Aylesford. And the band, who have been on the county's music circuit for the past ten months, are keen to maintain their close links with this area. Mr Lally added: "We try and keep in touch with all our fans and the support we have had in Leamington and Warwick has been outstanding so far."
