Mystery Road

About Me

Durham, NC might not be the first place you think of when you think of timeless, heartfelt Americana songwriting but it is the place that Mystery Road calls home. The band, comprising of singer/songwriter/guitarist Don de Leaumont, Bassist Ira Otis Poplar-Jeffers, former Shades of Winter band mate, cellist Elana Scheiner and drummer Michael Cell are four kin souls who found each other with a common thread: to make great, fun and meaningful music that will someday, hopefully, be as timeless as the music that inspires them.
Inspired by artists such as Neil Young, The Band and The Grateful Dead, Mystery Road is set out to make the best, most honest and meaningful music that they can make and to deliver it with passion, fun and sincerity. Mystery Road’s songs touch upon every day living, love and even the conflicts between human beings and nature. These songs are not hard to grasp nor do they go over people’s heads. Mystery Road plays to the people, not at or above them.
Mystery Road is a group of friends, family if you will, who have joined together to offer their songs to any and everybody who will turn an open mind and ear to. There are no expectations or delusions of grandeur; just a need and a desire to open the minds and ears of people willing to hear their stories, sing along with the songs and join them on this journey. Just where is this journey going to lead? That, my friends, is a mystery.
