Stina Stjern ("Stjern" is her Grandmother's maiden name) has her background from dirty rehearsal rooms and small rock venues in Norway and Europe. She turned down a comfortable musical career in Norway, and moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, where her musical network was practically absent. After getting settled in Copenhagen, she once again moved. This time to Brooklyn, New York to write material for her upcoming album.
Stina Stjern lives life without falling into musical habits. Being a sucker for good melodies and edgy white trash rock music (whatever that is), Stina figured her musical home was to be found somewhere in between dirty, yet melodic rock music (pop, anyone?) and improvisation (think Royal Trux meets Billie Holiday).
Stina Stjern is juggling with analogue cassette tapes and naïve pop melodies, while flirting with all things nice and some things bad. The idea is to mix the provocative worlds of both alternative rock and improvisational music, making it a new and interesting universe for the connoisseur's of music.
Stina is now back in Copenhagen. She filled her luggage with great material for her upcoming album and a Hagstrøm Viking guitar from 1964. You know, the exact same beauty Elvis used to rock.
Aloha from Brooklyn!
