About Me

FOR PETER PARKER AN OBSESSION WITH MUSIC BEGAN AS EARLY AS THE AGE OF FIVE. THAT WAS WHEN HIS FATHER, AN EMPLOYEE OF POLYGRAM RECORDS, BROUGHT HOME HIS FIRST RECORD. IT WAS AN ALBUM BY THE ROCK GROUP KISS. FROM THAT POINT ON A MONSTER WAS CREATED. WHETHER IT BE COLLECTING RECORDS, LEARNING HOW TO SCRATCH, OR MAKING REMIXES, A YOUNG PARKER SPENT EVERY MINUTE HE COULD HONING HIS CRAFT.WHILE STARTING TO DJ IN 1986, PARKER GOT HIS LOCAL RECOGNITION HUSTLING MIXTAPES AND DOING PARTIES. ALTHOUGH HE HAD A RESPECTABLE CLIENTELE FOR THE TIMES, SPINNING RECORDS WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE A HOBBY. HOWEVER, IN 1987 UPON ENTERING MARTIN VAN BUREN HIGH SCHOOL IN QUEENS VILLAGE , NEW YORK , A HOBBY QUICKLY TURNED INTO AN OBSESSION. WITH FELLOW CLASSMATES SUCH AS 50 CENT, ROCKWILDER, AND IRV GOTTI ALL ATTENDING SCHOOL WITH HIM, A YOUNG AND IMPRESSIONABLE PETER PARKER COULDN'T HELP BUT BE INFLUENCED BY HIS SURROUNDINGS.THROUGHOUT THE LATE EIGHTIES AND FOR MOST OF THE NINETIES, PARKER CONTINUED HIS DJ MISSION WITH THE INTENSITY OF A STARVING CRACK FIEND IN SEARCH OF A FIX. YET STILL HE MAINTAINED THAT “HOBBY ONLY” MENTALITY. HOWEVER, THIS WAY OF THINKING WAS NOT TO LAST MUCH LONGER. IN 1996, MUTUAL FRIEND AND DUCK DOWN RECORDS EMPLOYEE, SHUCKY DUCKIE, INTRODUCED PARKER TO STEELE, OF SMIF-N-WESSUN. THIS MEETING WOULD PROVE TO BE PIVOTAL IN CHANGING THE WAY PARKER THOUGHT ABOUT DJING AS A CAREER. AFTER SPENDING A FEW MONTHS BUILDING WITH STEELE, IT WAS SOON TO BE DETERMINED THAT NOT ONLY SHOULD PARKER PURSUE A PROFESSIONAL CAREER IN MUSIC, BUT ALSO HE SHOULD DO SO AS A MEMBER OF BUCKTOWN U.S.A., WHICH WAS STEELE'S PRODUCTION COMPANY.AS OF NOVEMBER 1997 PETER PARKER ASSUMED ALL OF BUCKTOWN U.S.A. 'S DJING RESPONSIBILITIES. THIS INCLUDED PROVIDING THE MUSIC FOR ALL OF THE LIVE SHOWS AND PROMOTING THE MUSIC THROUGH MIX TAPES AND BY DOING VARIOUS RADIO APPEARANCES. THE MIXTAPE ASSAULT WAS HEAVY, PARTICULARLY IN 1998, WITH PARKER RELEASING 5 DOUBLE CD'S IN A PERIOD OF JUST FOUR MONTHS.PARKER WENT HARD. KNOWING THAT THIS “GOLDEN” OPPORTUNITY WAS GIVEN TO HIM LATE IN LIFE HE HAD TO WORK TEN TIMES HARDER THAN ALL THE SEVENTEEN YEAR OLDS THAT WERE COMING UP IN THE GAME ALONG WITH HIM. A PETER PARKER MIXTAPE IS NOT AN ORDINARY MIXTAPE BY ANY MEANS. IT'S MORE LIKE AN ADVENTURE, FILLED WITH EXCLUSIVE FREESTYLES AND SONGS FROM SOME OF HIP HOP'S MOST TALENTED AND GIFTED. ALL OF THIS IS CONSTRUCTED IN AN OLD SCHOOL STYLE WITH PLENTY OF SCRATCHES, BLENDS, DROPS AND SOUND EFFECTS. “NOTHING SICKENS ME MORE THAN HEARING A SLOPPY MIXTAPE. I'M GONNA TURN THIS SHIT INTO AN ART FORM AND RE-SET THE STANDARDS” SAYS A DISGUSTED PARKER.PARKER WOULD CONTINUE TO ACT AS BUCKTOWN'S DJ FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS. WHILE WORKING AT A RIDICULOUSLY SICK PACE THE DETERMINED PARKER DECIDED TO TAKE UP ENGINEERING IN ADDITION TO HIS NORMAL WORKLOAD. IT WAS LIKE AN ADDICTION. EVERY SPARE MINUTE WAS SPENT IN THE BUCKTOWN STUDIOS STUDYING AND LEARNING AND EVENTUALLY DOING. THE IMMEDIATE GOAL NOW WAS TO GET A STUDIO OF HIS OWN SO HE CAN “SLEEP WITH HIS SHIT”. EVENTUALLY THAT GOAL WAS MET BUT UNFORTUNATELY SOON AFTER PARKER AND BUCKTOWN PARTED WAYS DUE TO “ARTISTIC DIFFERENCES” IN 2002.DURING HIS TIME WITH BUCKTOWN MANY, MANY DOORS WERE OPENED AND OPPORTUNITIES MADE. IN 1999 PARKER WAS INTRODUCED TO ROCK, OF HELTAH SKELTAH, AND SUBSEQUENTLY WAS HIRED AS THEIR DJ. AS HELTAH SKELTAH WENT ON A HIATUS, PARKER TOOK CONTROL OF THE WHEELS OF STEEL FOR ROCK AS A SOLO ARTIST. WITH ROCK CAME HIS SUPER GROUP THE ROCK BROTHERS. THAT INCLUDED ROCK HIMSELF, LIL ROCK, D-REAL, TANK, AND G.Y. TANK AND G.Y. WERE ALREADY KNOWN AS A GROUP THAT WENT BY THE NAME LAW-N-ORDA AND LATER WENT ON TO RELEASE AN ALBUM ON OUTLAWZ RECORDS IN 2002. FROM 1999 UNTIL THE PRESENT PETER PARKER DJ'D AND CONTINUES TO DJ ALL OF THE SHOWS FOR ROCK, LAW-N-ORDA, HELTAH SKELTAH, AND THE ROCK BROTHERS.AS WE FIND OURSELVES IN THE PRESENT, DJ PETER PARKER IS STILL CONSISTENTLY DROPPING INFLUENTIAL MIXTAPES AND YOU CAN BE SURE HE HAS MORE THAN A FEW SURPRISES IN STORE FOR THE NEAR FUTURE. IF THAT'S NOT ENOUGH HE IS DOING A RADIO SHOW CALLED “RHYME TYME” WHICH BROADCASTS OUT OF HIS OWN SPIDER'S WEB STUDIOS. “RHYME TYME” CAN BE HEARD ON FUTUREFLAVASONLINE.COM EVERY FRIDAY / EARLY SATURDAY FROM 1–2AM EST.IT'S BEEN A LONG, HARD STRUGGLE AND IT'S CERTAINLY TIME, TIME FOR A CHANGE. NO MORE BULLSHIT PAUSE-TAPE MAKIN, NON-MIXIN AND SCRATCHIN, SHOUTIN OVER ANY EXCLUSIVE ON CD, PAYOLA TAKIN, SO-CALLED DJS. THE MOTTO FROM NOW ON IS “QUALITY NOT QUANTITY”. IF EVERYONE HAD PARKER'S WORK ETHIC AND INTEGRITY HIP-HOP WOULD BE A MUCH BETTER PLACE . MAYBE ONE DAY THIS RAP SUPERHERO WILL GET THE RECOGNITION HE TRULY DESERVES.
