Boating - hiking - fishing - race car driving - any extreme sport - just call me - I am UP for it - - ROFLOL - - jk - mostly it is all about God, family, friends, and politics - :O) I spend a lot of time online - not sure if that would be an interest or a compulsion - - or just my jaaaarb....
Myself, 25 years ago - so that I could warn me about approaching stupidity - but I know me - and I prolly still would not have listened to reason - - :O)
My favorite hands down is when Jack and Dave play worship together - next to that I love the Heart of David series from MorningStar - we listen to some Jazz - mostly Miles Davis - Ray Charles - I still like my old favorites - The Beatles - Fleetwood Mac - The Eagles - Carol King - James Taylor - Van Morrison - The Indigo Girls - - and I will always have room in my musical heart for Willie - okay this is making me feel old - I think I need to listen to something new for a change - hey - - I heard the Dresden Dolls on Joe Trudeau's myspace one time and I LOVED Coin Operated Boy - does that count?
Quite honestly the best sleep I ever get is when other people are watching movies "with" me - - BUT there are a few that I liked enough to stay awake for - and a couple that I am willing to watch again - I LOVED Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant - I can watch that any time - I really enjoyed the entire Lord of the Rings series - we still speak like Gollum around here too frequently - Thought that Narnia The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe was very good - Knotting Hill can still be fun - but it is all about Hugh Grant's room mate - - "There is something wrong with this yogurt..." The first Matrix was amazing - there are more - but I am bored of this - - "sSSSSSSOooooooooooooo BOWING" - Homestar Runner - 2004
I would say that I really do not watch television - but that is what everyone on myspace says before they begin to list off the shows that they like to watch - - which as disturbing as it is, quite often contain the initials CSI - - ? ANYWAY - I will say that I really do not watch NORMAL television - I am hopelessly addicted to CSPAN - and of course we monitor the 24 hour news networks - I LOVE infomercials - I would tell you that I do not fall for them anymore - but I have a piece of cwap MAGIC TURBO BULLET WHATEVER on my counter right now that would make a liar out of me - we watch some HGTV (Designed to Sell) but for the most part we are a NetFlix household - so what this does is to SPOIL you for regular television - I HATE commercials now more than ever - have no patience for them - PLUS I have lost the abilty to wait a week for the next episode of anything - WHY SHOULD I - when I can watch a whole season of whatever I want at one time with NetFlix?? We have mowed through almost all of the available West Wing episodes this way - NEVER had watched it before - - we did the same thing with The Gilmore Girls - which we ended up buying because I liked it so much - - so we are always looking for new/old tv series that we can fall in love with and CONSUME - - but they are hard to find - we had never seen a single episode of Friends - (I know?!? See? NOT normal...) We figured what the heck - lets just try the first disc of the first season - - imagine our surprise to find out that IT IS JUST A REGULAR STUPID SITCOM? Wow- - - so the search goes on - :P
Well - I love books on CD right now , Jack and I like to drive around aimlessly and listen to someone else read us a good story now and then - the last book we listened to like that was The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd - LOVED it! I like a good Grisham once in awhile - feel like I can trust him to not waste my time :o) I love Anne Tyler - the way she can make a normal week in an "average life" so deeply touching and layered with relevence - remarkable gift really... The Bible is the mainstay - I have a hard time with Christian fiction - not sure why - I did like Deadline - and my sister Karrilee just bought us Blessed Child for Christmas - which I WILL read - :O) I think I am more of a non-fiction person though - I enjoyed "Mega Shift" by James Rutz about the ways that the Christian church is changing and becoming less of a pastor-centered spectator religion - and more of a relational biblical expression where we ALL participate and connect with God and one another - - I find political, mainly conservative leaning books endlessly challenging and entertaining...
