Windiga- (Stengrade 30,Copenhagen, Denmark) 21/03/08 It would be easy to dismiss Windiga was there not something rather special happening on stage at Stengrade 30. The band perform with astonishing dedication and professionalism. Tracks such as 'Thunder' and 'Slither' are so resonant that herein lies the inherent conundrum at the heart of every Windiga performance. It's refreshing to witness them transfixed only by a blind passion for the transcendent escapism of rock music. Playing into the crisp Copenhagen evening you feel as though you've just surfaced from a deep, dark, faintly unerving dream. In an infinity of universes, there's nowhere I'd rather have been. Rachel Lux - AP (Alternative Press Magazine) ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------------------Windiga - Markthalle, Hamburg, Germany) 26/03/08There's a capacity crowd in Markthalle tonight for the appearance of Scottish band Windiga who are sharing the bill with Daughtry and Redeem. Windiga are one of the best and brightest new bands to grace the stage of Markthalle for years. They treat us to a cracking show of brilliant and stunning music. The band take late to the stage, and although no reason is given for their tardiness, it could well be due to some technical hitches on the night but this does not stop them from gliding through their set like true professionals. It also helps that the band have a definite onstage chemistry. Gordon McLendon performs with a quiet intensity that's never less than compelling, whilst drummer Andrew Jones and bassist Conor Ryan are an impressive dynamic rhythm section. The other two band members on stage are English guitarist Chris Barnett and American Keyboardist Jason Carr who wrestle every ounce of emotion possible out of the songs especially when McLendon hits the low register on memorable tunes like 'Sensoria' and 'Jeopardy'. McLendon's friendly stage persona (He banters with the audience throughout) adds to the intimacy of the show and he comes across as relaxed and supremely confident performer. In fact rarely has a British talent seemed to have arrived so fully formed as Windiga. Elsewhere in the set, 'Slither' is a pristine slice of pop excellence and 'Thunder' enraptures with it's hypnotic groove. They even debut some new songs like 'Autamata' and 'In the City' which already sound like classics. Then, with startling suddeness, the band bid us goodnight and bring the curtain down on proceedings with a final blast of acid jazz trance like rockery. After a sharp evenings entertainment, Windiga have left us impressed, intrigued and - wisely , perhaps- hungry for more. Archie Patterson - Eurock Magazine
