"One person's spoken language might sound incomprehensible to another - but when it comes to music do we beat to a common evolutionary drum? Could music be the universal language - linking minds across cultures and ancestral time? And, which came first - music or language?"--Natasha Mitchell, ABC Radio National, Australia ________________________________________________I love this quote. In fact I think it expresses a lot about why I have given my heart and soul over the last year to help and support Italian artists and music. Music truly does transcend language - linking minds and hearts across cultures and across oceans… and when it comes to Italians, their music combined with their raw passion touches the soul like no other. This year is going to be another one to remember. And with another successful Spacca il Silenzio! tour in March which yet again exceeded expectations, it already has been (see the pics and videos below). It is incredible to think that it was only this time last year that I came over to live in London, and Italian music began to enter into my life and my soul… Who would have thought how quickly it was to take hold and take me on such a wonderful journey…SPACCA IL SILENZIO! (Breaking the Silence!)….What can I say… This band embodies everything wonderful about music... their sound is raw and real... and Luigi makes poetry that even the non-Italian ear can't prevent from touching the soul... I continue to stick steadfastly by these guys as they go from strength to strength. We are in fact now getting the wheels in motion for an even bigger and better trip in October. They have just finished recording some new tracks with the one and only Guido Elmi (producer of Vasco Rossi) so with some amazing new songs and their unbreakable Italian spirit, they will once again be sure to bring something incredible from across the big canal. Watch this space.www.myspace.com/spaccailsilenzioOther artists I have recently become ‘entwined’ with include the unique and esoteric wonders of Atleticodefina who plans to bring his intense and mystifying music to the UK in September this year… “intense and harmonious; visceral, rough, sweet agony... when he plays his guitar strings he touches the strings of your heart forever†….www.myspace.com/atleticodefina....and new to my ears: the beautiful voice and tunes of La Stanza di Lucas (produced by the magical Robert Miles). The band will be here IN LONDON playing at The Fiddlers Elbow and The Good Ship on the 16th and 17th August... more details to come!www.myspace.com/lastanzadilucasThe more people and souls we can touch, the more barriers we can break, the more music we can set free… the better the world will be!!Fatti sentirex x xATLETICODEFINA - Videoclip: "Mio fratello ha il vento in faccia"ATLETICODEFINA VIDEOCLIP
