HALLWAYS evolved from the romance between Grant Burton and Stephanie Parrish. With haunting harmonies and the musical compliment of Parrish on piano and Burton playing guitar, the duo began writing, singing and performing together in the Autumn of 2007, as both a catharsis to their troubled pasts and a love letter to their future. Both singer/songwriters have been intimately involved in music and art since childhood. Burton had previously spent four years as lead singer and songwriter for up and coming Northwest rock band, Spook the Horse and Parrish had written, sung and recorded on an electronica collaboration entitled Sad Panda with local producer Loupal.

Recording for HALLWAYS first full-length album, appropriately titled GHOSTS began in January 2008. During production of the album at the TOYBOX Studios in Fremont, Burton and Parrish had the opportunity to create a performing relationship with drummer Brian Papenfuss of Spook the Horse and Lonesome Rhodes and the Good Company, multi-instrumentalist Kimo Muraki of Michael Vermillion, Shawn Smith and 17th Chapter and bassist Shane Herell of The Knast, Virgin and The First Times.
Now a full five piece ensemble, with touches of psychedelic folk, alternative country and indie rock, HALLWAYS has performed to sold out and near sold out crowds at venues in Seattle such as Neumos, Comet Tavern, Cha Cha Lounge, The Rendezvous, The Tractor Tavern and The High-Dive. The band has received press from Seattle Weekly, Sound Magazine, The Stranger and Cap To The Hill (SEE BELOW FOR ALL PRESS LINKS). GHOSTS was self-released May 12th, 2009.
HALLWAYS has recently been selected on behalf of Seattle Weekly as a stand-out act of 2009 and is currently playing and scheduling shows to promote their new album. The band is exited to further experiment and continue building on their sound, which has been called unclassifiable by their fans. "This is a band whose greatest asset is attacking its music with a certain abandon, leaving the songs to assert themselves." Sound Magazine (May 2009).
Stand out tracks are streaming live on KEXP.org (REQUEST HALLWAYS HERE) and receiving Radio Airplay on KEXP 90.3 FM.
