A little about me
I was born and raised in San Diego in a household of a single mother trying to raise my brother and I. My mom always taught me to do right. But despite her best efforts, my surroundings captured my interest. By 5th grade, I was already ditching school doing stupid things like jacking fire extinguishers and spraying them on peoples homes, along with tagging and your basic "I want to fit in and be like everybody else" vandalism. By the 6th grade, I was already getting smoked out and drinking. My brother was two years older than me, so I always tried to keep up with what he was doing and that didnt help because he hung around cats that were older than him. So as he was trying to keep up with the older homies doing things ahead of his time, it was trickling down to me so I was ahead of my time by the age of twelve. I was already involved with sex, drugs, and crime. I went from stealing candy out the store to stealing bikes, then mopeds, and then cars. I went from smoking weed to selling weed and dope.
I was consumed with the "Thug Life" trying to sleep with as many woman as I could. I turned into a cold piece of work, taking advantage of and manipulating their minds. Every woman to me was a "B____" or a "hoe". I had no love for them. All I was worried about was if I could get from them and what they could do for me. Its a trip what a female will do for a light skinned brotha with a long perm and a "Gangsta" mentality. I guess everyone was trying to get in where they could fit in. It wasnt until after years of having this mentality, after running the streets, getting caught up and locked up, that I realized I needed to slow down. I moved outta SD to get away for awhile.
On Christmas back in '97, I came back to SD for the Holidays. My Brother had given his life to Christ the same year I was gone. He invited me to a Sunday morning service. I saw the crazy amount of change in my brother so I went. I don't remember the message, but God dealt with me during the altar call, and I remember saying "God if you are real, You're going to have to show me" cuz in my mind, it was a one time thing and I wasnt planning on going back to church. I went up to get baptized and I was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they took me down stairs to tarry for the Holy Ghost, which I didnt know what that meant. The minister shared scripture with me showing me that the Holy Ghost was promised to me. He laid hands on me and I began to speak in tongues as the spirit of God gave me utterance. The experience really cant be explained, it has to be experienced!! So basically God proved himself to me and showed me that he was real and since that day I have never been the same!!
