About Me

~Nichole Lynn~“All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.” - UnknownNichole Lynn (Owens), a twenty-seven year old native of Philadelphia, PA did not always know that she could sing but she adored the art of music. She did not possess that musical “ear” to acknowledge the gift she owned.Nichole Lynn was exposed to a very unbalanced lifestyle in West Philadelphia due to her mother’s drug addiction. At the age of nine, she was adopted by her uncle and aunt who soon thereafter discovered her talent. Her aunt stated, “Niki (as they call her) was in the shower one morning singing a Whitney Houston ballad. We were blown away by her voice. When she came out of the bathroom our entire family was standing at the door; she was so embarrassed!” It was after this that she began singing in the youth choir at her church. After singing several solos, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church granted her a full scholarship to attend Philly’s Settlement Music School to receive voice lessons. She was the youngest student to take voice lessons at the school. Her vocal teacher was so impressed with the maturity of her voice he made a call to his friend Peter Nero (of Peter Nero and the Philly Pops). Nichole performed with Mr. Nero at a Christmas celebration at the Academy of Music. It was at Settlement that Nichole’s Classical training began. In middle school, Nichole was a member of the Philadelphia School District’s All City Choir. Her family, wanting to cultivate her talent encouraged her to audition for a high school with an arts related program. In the fall of 1991, she auditioned to be a vocal music student at the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA). Nichole was accepted “on the spot” by the late Dr. David King (teacher and long time friend of R&B crooners Boyz II Men). After Nichole’s freshman year, Dr. King decided to place her in the Concert and Madrigal Choirs. Nichole said, “I was excited to join the concert choir; it was difficult to get accepted.” In the spring of 1995, Nichole was asked to perform with Boyz II Men at a concert paying tribute to recording artists from Philadelphia.Nichole Lynn Owens graduated from CAPA in 1996. She was accepted to Mansfield University (of PA) after an audition and granted a partial scholarship to study as a Music Performance Major. She studied at Mansfield for one year and decided to return home.In 1997, Nichole joined a national community service organization called City Year. City Year provided her the opportunity to share her gift with the communities that she served. Nichole was asked to sing for community events, sponsorship meetings and galas. In 2000, Co-Chair of City Year’s Advisory Board and President of the Philadelphia Eagles Joe Banner personally asked Nichole to perform the National Anthem at an Eagles home game. Her performance was so well received she was asked to perform the following year. As a member of City Year she also sang for then President Bill Clinton on two separate occasions.Nichole discovered her love for reading and writing literature at an early age. This poured out into everything that she would “put pen to” from poems to essays and songs. She decided to seriously consider writing songs in 1999. In 2003 Nichole won the Power 99..Pantene Pro-V songwriting competition. The judges were so impressed with the originality of her lyrics that she was given the opportunity to record her song at the Power 99 FM studios; a DJ played the song on the radio. “I would use my personal experiences to write song lyrics and create melodies; they weren’t chart toppers but looking back I consider it practice”, said Nichole. Her writing is poetic and sophisticated with an urban twist. She idolizes the songwriting styles of Linda Perry, Alicia Keys, Robin Thicke and the legendary Quincy Jones.Nichole was signed to PEP Soul Entertainemnt (Ernest Cimadamore & Kameron Houff) in November of 2005 as a songwriter. She has been working with her mentor and writing partner Kam (co writer of platinum single "You Should Let Me Love You" -Mario J Records) writing for recording artists. She is currently working on her own material in order to become a recording artist herself. She also wants to work with great songwriters and producers like Kanye West. Nichole’s musical influences are Stevie Wonder, Michael McDonald, Faith Evans and her luminary Brandy.Nichole Lynn has always been a dreamer; allowing her talent to transport her mind to new and exciting places. Those who know her are sure that she will make an enduring mark on the music industry and inspire future “dreamers” to follow in her path.

The phrase is pretty self explanatory: Be yourself, be unique and challenge yourself on the daily to be who you are. This is a mantra that I have been chanting for years. It has turned into a brand for my life and my music. I challenge you to live by it also! The logo Throughout history, the most common symbolic use of the skull is a representation of death and mortality. ( I decided to “flip the script” so to speak) Some time ago I developed a vision for a brand logo using this historic symbol to speak for what I stand for.The skull : Represents the old Nichole; the death of the young woman who was without a clear vision of my life’s calling to my 1st love… MusicThe crack Represents the side of the brain (the left side) that controls things the way they are concerning reality; it controls logic. I use tons more of the right side; the side that controls creativity. ( Everyone can’t be good in math! )The pink hairbow Represents all that is still innocent and beautiful in myself and in music. The music notes Represent the art and how it is at a crossroad.Nichole Lynn PEPSOUL Entertainment Inc.
