A wonderful mother, Araba Kokoo in a family of seven boys and a girl, raised Turas. He fell in love with Hip Hop in junior secondary school and was inspired by the best rapper in the school. He then began writing his own lyrics and songs.
In college he met Shocky, Limo and Ruky, where they formed the group Shock Clan, which became the best group in the entire central region of Ghana and later their fame spread throughout Ghana. In 1998 Alex was awarded the best rapper award at St. Augustine College, where he was attending. After college he and Shocky went on to form Teachers of the Law (T. T. L.). They released their debut on Hamafari Records called Julor, which was well received by the Ghanaian population.
After numerous shows and awards they decided to move their music to the next level, which became one of the most talked about groups in Ghana. “The Shaolin Monk Funk Clickâ€, which had all its songs in English touching on subjects such as HIV/AIDS.
Turas moved to South Africa to pursue his solo career and is now a recording artist under the independent label group, “DPB Records†collaborating with artists such as PMac. He states that he is willing to face the new challenges that await him there.
