It has been a long time vision and dream of the founder of Yere Me Yah Youth United for Christ, Sis. Melissa Hightower to establish a union for the younger generation connected by the blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Adhering to the call of the Lord, she began this outreach mission in January of 2008 and in this short time has established a non-profit organization that is truly blessed by God.
Upon the direction of the Holy Spirit, Sis. Hightower began researching God’s word for an appropriate name for the mission, purpose, and vision that had been given to her. Coming across the book of Jeremiah, the name was broken down in the Hebrew language as Yere me yah which means to be established, raised and exalted, lifted up by God. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee a prophet unto the nations.†Aspiring for the mission not to be limited to just being a local organization, it was confirmed that young people all across the land would be united and come to know that as believers in Christ, we are not alone. We are one body with the same mission; saving souls.
Yere Me Yah Youth United for Christ consists of five official board members all with the same outlook on dealing with the youth of today, each one has a major ability to make a difference. The bible says “Be ye doers of the word and not hearers onlyâ€, James 1:22. We know they are crying out and looking for hope, as Yere Me Yah Youth leaders, we want to be the ones to reach out to them. Some of them are lost, and we want to reach the lost. Some come from broken homes and don’t have any guidance, but we have a compass (The Holy Spirit) and a map (The Bible) that would help steer them in the right direction. Proverbs 22:6 states, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.â€
We do realize that some youth may go to church, but what’s in church may not be appealing to them on their level and it’s then a forced religion. They start feeling that they have to be a part of church instead of them wanting to. This ministry is all geared to showing them that you can be saved and have Christian fun too. In doing that, we will provide the Christian fellowship that we lack as a body today. We are tired of hearing the complaints about having nothing to do; well, we have lots to do!! While we are doing it, we are going to show the new school what a real party is! With the effort of all of the members of Yere Me Yah Youth United for Christ, we will build lasting relationships with the young adults across the nation teaching ethics, standards, and motivating them towards knowing that they too have the ability to change the world. Are you ready to join with us in taking back what the world’s system labels as generation “X For together, we can do all things through Christ which strengthens us!! Philippians 4:13.
