About Me

I am a bassist/composer originally from Chicago. I play a vintage Rickenbacker and a custom bass designed by Jake Kot. This page exists to share various recordings from different projects I have been involved in over the years. I occasionally post links to download longer pieces of music in my blog section. If you have questions, or some music/ideas you would like to share with me, please contact me here or email [email protected].
I can also be heard playing bass on some of the recordings featured on the Mars Retrieval Unit myspace. If you see a gig listed on my page, chances are the gig is with MRU. Minds Align is still an up and coming project that is getting closer to solidifying its plans. If you are interested in truly progressive musical ideas born out of organic energy, I recommend keeping track of Minds Align and being patient with our lack of real world presence. Also featured in my myspace friends section is Sunspire (Love Said Demeter) which is a group of friends I played music with in Chicago. I contributed a lot of compositional ideas to that group and the demo songs posted are pretty good for what we had to work with.
Thanks for stopping by, and I would love to hear from any of you any time.

Influences: My biggest Influences in music these days would have to be life itself and all of its complexities. I am continuously inspired by the energy around and within me. I find that I play new things that I have never played before when I work with new musicians, musical connections with others is ultimately inspiring.

Some of my favorite bass players: Jonas Hellborg, Percy Jones, Victor Wooten, Chris Wood, Noel Redding, Ralph Armstrong, Hadrien Feraud, Chris Squire, Colin Hodgkinson, Avishai Cohen, Ton Jenkinson, and Stanley Clarke.

Bands/Artists I listen to the most: Gong, Gentle Giant, Jean-Luc Ponty, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, National Health, Happy the Man, Frank Zappa, MMW, Yes, Boards of Canada, Brian Eno/Robert Fripp, Squarepusher, Brand X

I learned to play bass by listening to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Black Sabbath.

Sounds Like: The pulses of light and energy in my head, the fluid groove of the earth, the magnetism of the stars
