Lucas Black has been in the industry for over seven years. DJing out of a passion for discovering new and uncovered sounds, people quickly responded to his ear for fantastic music. He started his own business under the guise of “Darkhorse”. He played gigs under that name supporting the likes of FREQ NASTY and JOE RANSOM(Fabric UK)
Now he goes by his own name, and has aligned himself with James Canning's RESPECT MUSIC. He has recently supported respected artists such as RASMUS FABER, MIGUEL MIGS, MO’ HORIZONS, THE BAMBOOS, RANDOM SOUL, FDEL, ANDRE KRONERT, NATHAN G, DJ REGAL and TIJUANA CARTEL. He plays regularly on the Gold Coast scene with residencies at QBAR top of the Q1 building Saturday nights, and ALTO Sunday evenings playing Salsa and Latin beats. He has also been resident at MYBAR, ROOM 81 and the MARRIOTT LOBBY LOUNGE and plays regularly at UBER, TWENTY1, KOOKOO, SURFERS ROWERS and THE RUBY TRAMP. He plays regularly with live musicians including Guitars, Saxophone, Trumpet, Keyboard and Percussion.
His style is rooted in Funk, Soul and Jazzy sounds. His diversity and enormous music catalogue allows him to play a range of styles, beats and venues. Anything from Old School Funk and Soul, Latin beats, Chill Out and Acid Jazz, Break beat, House and Electronica. His passion for music shines through in every performance. You can now catch Lucas programming tracks and announcing on RESPECT MUSIC RADIO every Sunday 7-9pm on RADIO METRO 105.7
