Musician/Composer Nelson Foltz has worked with such artists as Steely Dan, Barry White, Aretha Franklin, Dave Liebman, Josh Ritter, Tony Williams, Roberta Flack, Kenny Werner and the Maria Schneider Orchestra. His credits include music for film, television and radio as well as performing in the orchestra for numerous broadway shows. Nelson's first solo recording "The Longing Hours" was released in 2002 to critical acclaim. He recently completed work on the fifth installment in an ongoing collaboration with musician Tom Lynn entitled "still life". The body of work resulting from this ongoing collaboration has been described as "otherworldly", "stunningly beautiful" and yielded comparisons to the legendary recordings of Gil Evans/Miles Davis and Brian Eno/Jon Hassell. By crafting a unique approach to instrumental composition and opting to use exclusively acoustic sources, Foltz and Lynn extend the lineage of fourth world/ambient music.
