About Me
NOPAL, Spanish for cactus, is an exciting and unique apparel brand offering hand-drawn designs and wearable original art. NOPAL fuses a wide range of cultural icons and images with urban contemporary fashion, creating a palette of rich colors and styles that express originality, versatility and comfort. NOPALs line consists of t-shirts, sweatshirts, bags and other accessories such as posters, prints and customized mix cds.
NOPALs provoking iconography pays tribute to the originals, historical figures such as 19th century Cuban revolutionary Jose Mart, Jazz vocalist Billie Holiday, Brazilian musician Jorge Ben, Chicano author and artist Jos Antonio Burciaga, Nigerian visionary and musician extraordinaire Fela Kuti, great vocalist and diva Chaka Khan, and others.
NOPAL celebrates those who le echan ganas todos los das (give it their all every day), those who courageously have given voice and impetus to cultural and social movements. NOPALs images reflect the values of community, artisan skills, and attention to detail, missing from many of todays fashion expressions.
NOPALs collection also features a soccer jersey inspired series entitled, Las Aves, Spanish for the birds. NOPAL founder and artist Daniel Snchez Glazer elaborates that the jersey style of Las Aves reflects a personal connection to soccer, and simultaneously, Las Aves function as messengers, plunging into our past, carrying seeds for inspirational goals.
NOPAL, the cactus, model of resilience and nourishment, able to survive everywhere, respected for its inherent ability to produce the sweetest of fruits even in the most inhospitable of climates; the NOPAL is the defining symbol, it inspires the artwork and forms the fashion, it is the heart of our company.
NOPAL, its not a concept, its a conscious way of life.
