PositiveToo.com is dedicated to providing current useful information about STDs (Sexual Transmitted Diseases) appealing to a more diverse urban population and how it affects us and our lives.
Our initial goal is to provide some comfort to you, by acknowledging you are not alone. Being devastated by news of being infected by an incurable STD is almost unbearable. We hope PositiveToo.com is used for a place to vent (YELL at the world or the person whom infected you), heal, learn, share beautiful moments, flirt, disagree, laugh…..live again.
Although STDs are common, the subject remains taboo for some. Many of us with STDs may feel ashamed, embarrassed or depressed. First, if you think you may have an STD, talk to your health care provider. Then make us apart of your healing process.
The Basics
There are two types of STDs:
Bacterial STDs (caused by bacteria)
and Viral STDs: (caused by viruses). Sexually transmitted diseases are
called STDs;or sexual trasmitted infections STIs.
The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) reports that the number of cases of almost all STDs
is on the rise and the greatest increases are in the age groups of 15-24.
Some STDs cause no symptoms, and if
there are symptoms, they are often not recognized. Most people with
STDs have no symptoms...yup, NONE! So you can be infected and infect
someone else without knowing.
If you think you are infected with an STD, talk with your doctor and ask if you need to be screened or tested for STDs. Some but NOT all STDs can be cured. Until you have been tested please refrain from sexual contact to avoid infecting someone else
