About Me

The Six Rings

The Six Rings is a weekly PodCast by musician and songwriter bonar from Canada. Click on the iTunes PodCast link below to subscribe. Bonar has developed an "evolutionary" approach to understanding how music works and for mapping that understanding onto guitar and bass - although the basic content pertains to all musicians.

It's just me, bonar. But I am working on remixes, co-writes and new songs with some very special collaborators. I'll credit everybody who contributes right here. Starting with this:

Theme 4 6 Rings - Production & General Magic provided by Canadian producer, DJ Marlin (in my top friends).

Snowed In- Production by Canadian producer, DJ Marlin

In Your Kitchen - Fiddle by (the astonishing) Canadian multi-instrumental Erynn Marshall (in my top friends), Washboard by Canadian Master Luthier and fingerstyle guitarist, Fabrizio Alberico (in my top friends), brilliant banjo (yes, you can tune these!) by the beautiful Clay Hepburn, backing vocals by those devilishly good singing angels, Acacia and Stephanie Slingerland, Production by Canadian producer, DJ Marlin.

Things We Did - Co-written with and vocals by the incredible singer/songwriter Skye Wallace, organ track (a generous sprinkling of acoustic diamond dust) by the wonderfully sweet Wayne Slingerland, backing vocals feature the lovely and talented Niv, Production by my friend and mentor, Canadian producer, DJ Marlin.

The Moonlight Jamboree (The Title Track) - Piano by the wonderful Miss Berni G, song inspired by the inimitable Cab Calloway, (still dazzling us, Cab, after all these years!) Production by Canadian producer, DJ Marlin.

Influences: Jeff Beck, Sammy Fain, Robert Conti, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Muddy Waters, Cole Porter, Yousou N'Dour, Tito Puente, Nelson Cavaquinho, Baden Powell, Bob Marley, Henry Mancini, Jane Siberry, Cesaria Evora, Pat Metheny, Milt Jackson, Wes Montgomery, Chet Baker, Betty Carter, Dinah Shore, Eartha Kitt, Marvin Gaye, Michael Franks, Simple Minds, Robert Fripp, Bill Nelson, Muriel Anderson, Lisa Loeb, Chet Atkins, Chuck Berry, Howard Devoto, Stephen "TinTin" Duffy, David Bowie, Mick Ronson, Keith Richard, Jimmy Smith, Ray Brown, Ronnie Lane, Harry Belafonte, Pete Seeger, John Phillips, Burt Bacharach, Elvis Costello, The Stranglers, Steve Gelling, Tim Hadley, The Merrymen, Johnny Clarke, Sly and Robbie, Talking Heads, Roxy Music, Les Nubiennes, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Harvey Mandel, Gordon Lightfoot, Dave Mathews Band, Ben Harper, The Spinners, Kurt Weill, Tony Bennett, Nara Leão, Dinah Washington, Eno, Tetes Brulees, Andy Narell, Baba Maal, Fela, Alpha YaYa Diallo, Celso Mechado, The New Seekers, Garbage, Muse, Jane Bunnett, Vivaldi, George Gershwin, Fats Waller, Freddy Green, Joe Sample, Larry Carlton
