About Me
Musicians from along the Alamance - Orange County line in North Carolina's eastern piedmont, Mebanesville performs a unique blend of acoustic roots music from yesteryear to tomorrow. The band draws upon source material from lands on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the waters of the Mediterranean and the Gulf of Mexico.Mebanesville began in the late summer of 2000 as a collection of longtime neighbors and friends playing a regular, informal Friday evening musical session at a coffee bar in Mebane, North Carolina.Soon audience members were inviting the musicians to play for private parties and special events. The players took the name Mebanesville-- the local community's name in the 18th and 19th centuries prior to the incorporation of the town of Mebane in the early 1880's-- to reflect their love of living locally but exploring music globally. The once-and-future multi-instrumentalists of Mebanesville include: Alice Clark Brower, Bob Brower, Chuck Hodson, Corey Sims, David Shore, Deb White, Hal Engler, Jamey Tippens, Jane Davis, Joffre Coe II, Larry Duckworth, Larry Vellani, Nettie Lassiter, Paul Mitchell, Peggy Boswell, Sarah Rubin, and Sherry White Lea. Distinguished special guests have included Alan Julich, Bill O'Connor, C. H. Earley, Ed Cox, Eric Hallman, Ira Diamant, Jody McCall, Joe Thompson, Johnny Ridge, Lori Oshrain, Michela Musolino and Nowell Creadick.
