About Me

FIRST - ABOUT THE SONGS ON THE PLAYER-

The first, "I Am A Diamond" was written by Bejae Fleming and was released on her record - Navigating Limbo. I was fortunate to get to play with her over the last couple years. It is with her blessing that the song appears on this space.

The next two songs, "Down To This" and "Get Your Nerve Up" were written by Randy Burk. Those two recordings are live versions that I played drums on with the band Randy Burk And The Prisoners at the Vaudeville Mews in 2006.

NOW ABOUT ME

Drummer/Percussionist located in Des Moines, Iowa. I have a diverse background in music that includes most styles.

My professional experience includes: 5 years in the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra's percussion section, over 8 years now playing hand and various Latin percussion in The Tony Valdez Large Band, on and off for the past several years with Randy Burk and the Prisoners, Brother Trucker in 2007 and 2008, Tuesday night house band for a couple years at The Grand with Willie James Shay and Doug Johnson.

Besides the Latin band, which is a side project for some great Des Moines musicians including: Tony Valdaz, Don Jaques, Jim Oatts, Steve Charlson, Myron Peterson, Jason Danielson, Vince Valdez, Jim Parker and John Kizilarmut, I currently play on occasion with one of the great singer songwriters in Iowa, BeJae Fleming along with bassist Jackie Blount.

Other musicians I've had the pleasure to play with over the years includes:

Austin, Texas guitarist Dave Ducharme Jones, Tanner Taylor, Marcia Miget, Dartanyan Brown, east coast producer/writer keyboardist Chris "Big Dog" Davis, Jim and Nancy Bierma, Susie Miget, Mitch Espy, Pete Simonson, Ed Eves, Doyle Smith, Debra Wozniac aka. Debra Winters and had the pleasure to play last years Gross Domestic Product show with the Iowa City band Death Ships.

I'm currently looking for my next music adventure. If you are in need of a mature drummer who has a "song before self" mentality, get in touch. I'm open to any style done well, will travel within a few hundred mile radius of Des Moines on the weekends, but 'am not looking to "tour."

My Interests

Music:

Influences:

Listening to Little Rock's Beaker Street as a kid in the back seat of my parents car. I've always been drawn to progressive music of all genres, but I don't think I enjoy anything more than a great singer singing a good melody. A few of the many artists I've been drawn to over the years: Joni Mitchell, the late Frank Zappa, Allan Holdsworth, Adrian Belew, The Who, Yes, King Crimson, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and the greatest American rock and roll band of all time - NRBQ

I'm in awe of all the same drummers everyone else is, but in particular two of the greatest rock drummers of all time Keith Moon and Tom Ardolino of NRBQ.
