As a committed music fan for more than 15 years, collecting and listening to all styles of music, it was no surprise that Pepe embarked on a DJing career in 1994. His first gig was at the Distrito club in Palma de Mallorca, playing ambient/chill out sets. He went on from here to become a well known Chill Out DJ playing sets at the ARS Festival in Madrid and of course the world famous Sonar Festival in Barcelona. It was during his time at Palma radio stations like Radioactivitat & Radio Jove that Pepe developed his love for House music. A 4 year spell from 1995 onwards brought him into contact with DJ;s like Kiko Navarro, Don Manolo and Angel Costa and the result was that Pepe got his own show called Tecnofamilia on Top Radio. The show incorporated new styles of music that Pepe had not played before such as House music, Hip-hop, techno, minimal, etc. In the year 2000 Top Radio closed and Pepe began a new radio show on Insel radio, which was also broadcast on the Internet. The show concentrated mainly on house music and he had guest dj sets from people like Joey Negro, David Morales, Jazzanova, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Mettle Music, & Sidewinder, amongst others. These new styles of music had now started to filter into Pepe;s DJ sets and it opened him up to a whole new audience. He had started to get bookings at all the best local and national clubs such as Pacha Mallorca, Privilege Ibiza, Otto Zutz Barcelona, Deep Madrid & Kapital Madrid. The end result was that Pepe secured residencies at Garito Cafe, Club 113 and El Cielo Cafe.In 2003 Pepes first music production was released on DJ Chus Stereo Cool records titled Guitar Vibe. The reactions to the track were really good from a number of DJs as well as TV stations, including Sky Sports UK who have been using the track as a soundbed for their Spanish Football show. Other releases have come on respected House label Shaboom records, who released Pepe s collaboration with Kiko Navarro called To Da Word , The track was released under there Ma-Yorkins guise in April 2004 and featured the vocal talents of Concha Buika. Next up is Pepes second solo offering that will see a release through US label MoreHouse early in 2005. The track is called €œKalakuta and is a tribute to afro-beat legend Fela Kuti.In addition to all the above Pepe is responsible for the musical selection of Grupo Cappuccino, which owns 9 premises across the Balearic Islands. Pepe selects from an extensive musical spectrum including classic Jazz, ambient, trip-hop, bosanova & Flamenc which all helps to create a comfortable atmosphere in which to enjoying the best coffee on the islands.
