About Me

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.' ~ Kurt Vonnegut
I am a poetic excuse for a bad existence, coupled with a voice that won't shut up about such. I try to be an okay human being - but without meaning to sound too cynical, I think that somewhat the oxymoron. Who am I? The kind've asshole who asks rhetorical questions to try to sound profound. See how that works? I love all the good things in my life, and constantly find myself discounting them. I like to read, I like to write, I love music - I try to sing, I do okay. I'm in a band, but it's nothing much - let's not give me too much credit now. I've written a book, but it's also not so much - again watch giving me credit. I'm working on another, I do things like that. I read; because it's enjoyable and it beats television big time. I love a girl, her name's Ashley - I don't like to sound corny, so I try to leave it at that. Maybe I'm also attempting some kind of simplistic profundity too, who knows? Aside from her though, there's only a small handful of people I really like all that much. Don't get me too wrong, I got a heart out for humanity, but I'm just about as cynical as they come. That's not a redeeming quality, you're right - but I've little intent to change it, 'cause I enjoy myself more that way. Other people don't enjoy me so much though; my real friends in this world are limited, and admittedly I try not to count too much on people, but I'm a sucker for friendship. So hey, for the record - I don't believe in God; I'm maybe an Existentialist, maybe not. I have no idea any more. It's mainly a fear of dogma, whether it be Catholic or Nihilistic. I like philosophy, in fact I plan to major in it - why? So I can ask rhetorical questions and get away with it. I plan to be a writer - I like to consider myself such presently, but hey - what have I written? Oh, and my name's Brittney. It's really Stephen - but for now, let's go with Brittney. I can tell we're just going to be the best of friends.
You scored as Existentialism, Your life is guided by the concept of Existentialism: You choose the meaning and purpose of your life.
“Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does.”
“It is up to you to give [life] a meaning.”
--Jean-Paul Sartre
“It is man's natural sickness to believe that he possesses the Truth.”
--Blaise Pascal

What philosophy do you follow? (v1.03)

"For those who believe in God, most of the big questions are answered. But for those of us who can't readily accept the God formula, the big answers don't remain stone-written. We adjust to new conditions and discoveries. We are pliable. Love need not be a command or faith a dictum. I am my own God. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us." ~ Charles Bukowski

Music:

Favorite Bands: Firstly - .. My hands-down favorite band, since 8th grade - others have come close, but they've always occupied this spot... A close second - not too close, but definently in the ball park close, metaphorically speaking. Then ( and in no real order ) Failure, .. Hum, .. Tool, .. A Perfect Circle, .. System of a Down, .. Hole, .. Pearl Jam, .. Radiohead, <8864U97yX7gkAoib1= target="_blank"> Minus the Bear, .. The Shins, .. Pixies, .. Pavement, .. Rilo Kiley, .. Bright Eyes, .. The Honorary Title, <2mbCa359ZO9yEWl2= target="_blank"> Andrew Bird, <6dm7QZlHhuVXS89w8l== target="_blank"> The Dresden Dolls, .. and The Offspring .. (Their early stuff),When I first got into music (and I mean REALLY into music) I was a Grunge guy. Pretty much primarily too, if it wasn't Grunge, I probably wasn't too interested. My initial discovery of my tastes was born out of the music channels our cable used to have - because of which I discovered a plethora of stuff I would later grow to love. My Grunge phase lasted from late 7th grade through 8th grade, and I still listened to a good deal of the stuff in 9th. Then though, I got more into post-grunge alternative, and became much more leniet with my tastes. Gradually I found the bands that would become my lasting favorites (mostly through friends and chances - Local H I found by complete accident.) My tastes didn't change much after 9th grade, and 10th grade was pretty much the same, with a little indie thrown in, which would slowly become my other favorite genre. Really, at my core I'm an alternative-rock guy - I love indie though too, and can still listen to some of the grunge and love it. My tastes aren't limited to that though, I also like some punk, real emo, a small bit of metal (reserved mostly to Tool and System of a Down) and other things. Generally, I'm not extremely picky, there are only three things I absolutely cannot stand:
1. Modern Hip-Hop/Rap
2. Christian Rock
And the thing I hate absolutely most of all, the kind of music that I have trouble even considering as music:
3. Country.
Other than that though, I like most kinds of music to some extent.

I have no shame when it comes to what I consider my favorite fims.

Clerks.
Dogma
Scent of a Woman
The Big Lebowski
Pulp Fiction
The Truman Show
The Weatherman

Heroes:

Because no one wrote better. <1Sm4eA0lFpGEV= target="_blank">
Scott Lucas,
Because he's musically brilliant, and my favorite song-writer. Matt Harding would be last on the list; and simply because he danced around the world.
