The MOON & SHADOWS

About Me

.. .. ..

The Moon and Shadows is the solo project of William King of The Hyacinths, who has been playing music since the age of 15. King started out on drums and excelled, but quickly switched to guitar to express himself more fully. The music of The Moon and Shadows is ambient and textured in the tradition of Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins, Harold Budd, Tones on Tail, Dif Juz and other experimental bands on the 4AD label in the 80’s. King is effectively a one-man band; his guitar has heavy effects and further colors King’s playing to match the mood of each song; he also draws heavily from his drumming experience to create the programs that back up his guitar and bass. The result is a style that can be calming and warm, or eerie and occasionally unsettling. In other words, William King’s music is The Moon…and Shadows.

The Hyacinths have the first release out on CdBaby, entitled "By the Pearly Lights", and is available as cd or mp3 download.
