About Me

"You sound great! What instrument do you play again?!" bellows a voice from behind the drums. "Way to go dancers! Oh, I think I hurt myself!" No, you're not hearing things. You're just in Nick Scarmack country.A dynamic personality both on and off the bandstand, drummer Nick Scarmack is a credit to his instrument. Raised in Farrell, Pennsylvania, he divided his passions between music and sports. His early influences included Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones, Tony Williams, and Steve Gadd. After a stint with the 434th Army Band at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia, Nick went on to earn his music degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, before settling in Southern California.Nick's playing can best be compared to the finesse of Michael Jordan going in for a lay-up, the the flexibility of Ozzie Smith turning a double play, and the intensity of Joe Montana leading the drive in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter.Throughout his illustrious career, he has performed with such notables as Dizzy Gillespie, Al Jarreau, Diana Krall, Keely Smith, Rod Stewart, and Tammy Wynette, and has toured with the incomparable Tiny Tim.A gifted songwriter, Nick has co-written numerous songs with vocalist Lynda Kay. Recently, he co-wrote the music to the critically-acclaimed off-Broadway musical comedy A Night of a Thousand Beers and the musical drama Nobody Runs Alone. He has also co-produced the albums Cowgirl! by Lynda Kay and the Lickety Splits released in 2004, and Only in Hollywood by Nick D'Egidio and the Dry Martini Orchestra.Active as a performer, writer, and producer, Nick enjoys public interaction. People at sporting events fear him.
